FD just Nuked loads of trade routes!

Did they intend for this game to be a grindfest? Because that's what we have. And I already addressed your point, seeking luxuries was only a 'credit printer' compared to everything else because everything else pays like absolute crap.

It shouldn't take HUNDREDS of hours of grinding just to get the biggest ship in the game so that you can do.... nothing with it because this game has no content.

.. and you want to get faster to the biggest ship to then do nothing with it? /confused

anyway, interesting change. could still be a bug or a short lasting peak that settles down over time. i guess we'll no more tomorrow or in a few days.

the over-dramatizing and crying is a bit emberassing.

I am totally baffled at the people who seem to think that amassing a huge pile of wealth is the objective of the game.

You'd be happy in your sidewinder would you?

Some of us have a game plan and need money to get there.

It's not about money for money's sake.... it's about earning enough to do with it what you need to make the game what you want it to be.

Sure it should. I want to play this game for years. I don't want to be a maxed out player after a month or two.

Perhaps they are getting ready to launch BUY CREDITS on the FD website...

1 Million credits for £5
3 million for £10
10 million for £20
35 million for £35
50 Million for £50

I wouldn't put it past them.

If something like that was set up, I am gone along with many of my friends who plays as well. P2W would be a very bad approach.

But yeah, have seen my 2 main trade runs I do are all dead now. Time to go exploring once again and find some new ones. I prefer a dynamic market makes people get out and see the galaxy more instead of grinding the same run over and over.

So packed extra snacks I am off exploring for that new trade route and or some BB missions (Still need to get Baron - 2 1/2 weeks and have not seen a rank mission, no matter how much faction work I do.....)

I would be nice if the supply missions scaled for people with large ships. If we could take a mission to supply 1000-2000 tons of goods instead of 2-6 they could provide another avenue of activity for traders. Basically a trader equivalent to the 150k assassination missions.

Agree with this entirely but in an ideal system there shouldn't be any grinding other than the few who must have the "best" right now. All of the potential career paths should have a reasonable prospect of being able to progress in a timely fashion using the tools and features that are built into the game.

Trading was seen as the only place to make significant steps forward I think in part because I can easily disseminate trade information so others can make use of what I found but if I tell you where I made a good high bounty kill that information is of far less use to others as the kill itself would have been unique and there is no garantee of it being reproduced or even reproducable.

Static trade routes was the only thing keeping the game alive, since there are no tools to actually find other trade routes. it's all just luck, chance, randomness and lots of hand writing!

Dunno about you but I found quite a few 2200-2400cr/t back-forth routes before I even knew stuff like Thrudd's existed. Doesn't take a genius to figure out which goods are the most profitable and which kinds of systems sell and buy them.

I actually hated Thrudd's because some people stumbled onto my routes, posted them and ruined the profits.

When you find a new one you will run it down within the hour, currently......i guarantee you will spend more time looking then actually trading...no thanks.

If this is the case then I am quite looking forward to it, here comes the life of a vagrant trader :D. Hopefully the need for proper in-game functional trade tools with be realized too.

So you want to spend year grinding for an imaginary ship in a videogame? Some of us just want to fly space battleships for fun, not grind endlessly like it is a second job.

I also wonder how you're going to play this game for years when you can do nearly everything there is to do in the entire game in just a few hours.

Exactamundo!

As I said earlier...

It's a question of food chain....

If there is no profit in trading... there can be no profit in piracy... If no pirates... there can be no Bounty hunters....

Looks like we are being told by FD to explore or Mine....

They can go frack themselves... I didn't buy Elite to be told what to do in a supposedly open world game!

The irony is that Elite 1984 was the first open world game...

I am confused. OP is complaining that an economy functions and when you remove a particular set of items over and over again the supply and demand actually goes down?

WOW, so much entitlement in one post.

Next time read the thread, rather than posting after reading two lines!

Check the patch notes as I mention in this thread. Trading may not be the only revenue stream impacted with the upcoming 1.1 patch. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=109171

Perhaps we will all be relegated to flying vipers and haulers as there may not be an efficient means to pay for insurance. Or as previously stated, for a mere $70 receive 50 million credits! WHAT A DEAL!

If they set the economy up correctly then good trade routes would only exist for a very short time.

So don't expect this always-existing trade route nonsense to be around forever.

Ideally good trade routes should be fairly permanent. Great trade routes should be temporary.

Because of the massive lack of content ED has, one of the ways that I was trying to get my moneys worth was grinding up the money to fly a big space battleship. Who doesn't want to fly a big space battleship?

Even if there's absolutely nothing else to do, at least I could log on once a week at marvel at a big pretty ship. But FD seem dead set on making sure that nobody who isn't unemployed ever makes it past the cobra.

Making ships crazy expensive to 'extend gameplay' through grinding is just a cheap trick that nobody should fall for, yet some people do.

So they've finally fixed the static supply/demand problem, and markets are working they way they're supposed to? So that means that traders won't be able find one optimal trade route and repeat it ad nauseum until they're bored because they skipped the fun parts of the game in their rush to get an Anaconda? Hmm...

There's a fun part of this game that I missed?

Dear god, please tell me what that is.

Was it staring at the skybox, killing the same NPCs who spout the same canned responses, searching endlessly for another human player to do nothing with because this MMO has no multiplayer features, or grinding RNG procedural missions in RNG procedural solar systems?
