The 1.1 Collision Damage Thread

in the thread they say they restored the check for multiple collisions with same target - so slow contact was giving lots and lots of collision damage - doh

That could explain why when I rammed a Clipper at full speed with my viper it took hull damage and I didn't even lost my shield -- I was so fast I bounced off him and only one collision was registered.

Did a couple of trade runs so far with my Conda.

Docked manually and with Docking Computer.

With DC, it still scrapes the top of the ship, but less than before I think. The good news is that even with 2 pips in SYS, there was NO apparent shield loss and no hull damage.

I haven't tried bounty hunting yet. Although I'm glad if they made the NPC harder...

I'm good for now, I'll come back tomorrow to answer the DENSE posts...

and maybe even laugh while quoting a dev saying this is a glitch and they're working on it

and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh...

And laugh and laugh and laugh.

Alright, I think we're done here, problem solved and all that.

Graunched 400 million quids worth of Conda against the letterbox - no dent in shields.

Also had several ASPs bounce off me in a conflict zone at high speed and shields stood up.

Its safe now.

Sounds like "easy-mode-development" to me so no collision detection at all? So sad...

I don't think that's the case. According to the patch notes from 1.1.02:

"- Collision damage tweak - Restore the check that prevented multiple lumps of damage from the same collision. Also make the damage split based on mass slightly more exaggerated"

You could verify this by ramming some large things at high speed :)

Good to hear. Dared to undock and fly a bit. Survived the ordeal witth only mild trauma when a Type-9 aproached me in the mail slot. No damage tho, so all good (once the panic wore of :p )

I was too irresponsible with my cash and went into a combat zone to try out the new changes in 1.1 without enough money to cover insurance for my Python. I decided I'd ram into an Anaconda with its shields down and my shields up, figuring I'd just bounce off him with the way collision changes were described. Instead I instantly exploded and now I'm back to square 1. I didn't realize any refunds were being offered, and I'd at least like to recover the cost of my Python. Should I submit a ticket?

Hah! I would've done the same, tho with insurance money. If it was before the patch today, yes. Submit a ticket. They will auto refund repair costs but can't do so with exploded ships, it seems.

No, refunds are only being offered for crashes after 1.1 and before 1.102's release. But you might try anyway.

Just never do that again, ever. That is incredible short-minded :)

Fully admitted. It actually happened immediately after the new version came out. Maybe half an hour after the upgrade, in fact. It's not something I'm proud of, clearly.

As I was anaconda hunting in my viper (much harder, but still very possible) today, i suffered a collision going over 300mps.. and nada.. just a slight ding to the shield. Shortly after, I was leaving a station and bumped the tower on takeoff (slowly, landing gear still down) and exploded violently.

Karma for my lucky escape earlier?
