Not happy

I see three mistakes.

I hope they do include you in the refunds but I have to be honest and say that if it was me that was making the decision it'd be limited to rebuy costs and cargo not whole ships because you thought it was a good idea to fly uninsured.

Didn't Michael already say that only things being refunded were rebuy costs and repair costs from between 1.07 an 1.1.02? Anything else has to be sent in as a ticket, and considering there are people who have been waiting over 5 weeks for replies to tickets, good luck with that, been waiting over 2 weeks for a reply to a ticket regarding random station deaths....

The curse of the Asp strikes again!

I worked crazy hard since christmas to get that far and i just feel too jaded to go back to square one for a long time especially for something that wasn't my fault.

So if you took a long walk of a short pier, it would be the piers fault you fell in the sea?

DON'T FLY WHAT YOU CAN'T BUY
I think you should replace DON'T FLY WHAT YOU CAN'T BUY with DON'T FLY WITHOUT ENOUGH TO PAY THE INSURANCE. The OP was obviously flying a ship he could afford to buy, or he wouldn't have been flying it, he just didn't make sure he had enough credits in cash to cover the insurance and to re-buy his cargo in case of a disaster. ;)

Before the 1.1.0.2 patch, I had two T-6's, each with 104t of expensive cargo, destroyed by T-9's coming from behind and beneath me in the Spaceport as I was leaving. I was going slowly and carefully to avoid any collisions because I knew of this bug. I was at least fortunate enough to have 23 million credits to easily cover the cost of the insurance (116,392cr) and re-buying the cargo.
I am so thankful I learned the lesson of not flying without insurance back when I was flying my free Sidewinder with only a few upgrades. Although it hurt to have re-buy my upgrades when I had very little money, it was still a hard lesson. Just not as hard as it would have been if I had lost a more expensive ship like a totally tricked out ASP worth 15 million.

You deserved to get crushed for blocking the exit.

Reminds me of drivers who dawdle in the passing lane on the interstates.

Indeed .. something I do myself whilst waiting for FD to add it in, which will not be any time soon.

Had about 7 deaths so far ... gutted after the last one - bagged a 5.5m bounty; the Feds loved me; deleted ...

Do you reuse your dead commander name or create a brand new persona?
I was thinking of going self-imposed ironman too at some point if FD don't introduce it, but I'm not sure if deleting a character and renaming it would wipe out all the discovery tags it had earned. :S

It would be nice to know that some trace of a long dead ironmans presence still existed out in the galaxy.

God know how many dockings and undockings in a 6, 7, and clipper and never an issue. The key isn't always going slow and careful, but fast when there is an opening.

In my Python I deliberately run over and smash smaller NPC ships that dawdle in (or near) the entrance - moving slow is annoying, and not boosting when the way is clear should be a crime. ;)

I usually remember to check that they are NPCs and not players...but sometimes I forget. To the best of my knowledge I haven't actually flattened any players yet.

Bet the OP feels like an Asp-hole.

While I might agree some of the top end ships should get a break on rebuy (risk vs time to make up rebuy cost grows expoentially and should maybe be a bit more linear). There is simply no excuse in a mid range ship.

While in a seeking good instance i got near the lakon 9 to scan it and got rammed and my 15Mil+ asp(with upgrades) got destroyed. Basically I didn't have enough to cover my losses and have to go back to the sidewinder. Seriously there should be an option to have a more aggressive percentage off earnings to pay off bigger loans etc

Alternatively don't fly without enough to cover insurance? Like everyone says always?

At the very least people here must agree that loans should scale with the players assets etc.

Not necessarily player assets, but perhaps your overall rating.

An alternative would be to allow players to invest their wealth into the insurance policy (non-refundable) to save for a rainy day.

<shrug>

It's what it is of course :)

I don't understand why people don't keep their old ships. The credits invested are negligible compared to the next larger ship, and if you happen to blow up your Asp you can at least go back to your Cobra/T6/Viper.

But in the end it's just like in real life: If you don't have stuff insured you don't get it replaced. Plain and simple.

Because you cannot move them with you when you go somewhere else. I sell my T-9, get in my Asp, find a nice place, buy a new T-9, only keep one or two ships at once, any more is a waste.

I totally agree, I lost my Asp full of rares as the damn game keeps dropping to Windows for me, about every 15 mins or so, this time happened while docking.... KaBoom I'm offered a side winder, well fu%$ that.

Ive raise a ticket about the bug and not had a peep back, I am not grinding yet again...

Not really. Even my Adder netted me just over 1MCr when I upgraded to a Cobra. I had around 1MCr in cash. Spending 2MCr on a Cobra, or keeping an Adder and having a 1MCr Cobra?? No contest! My Cobra is now worth around 4 or 5MCr, so even going up to an Asp I would want all of that cash for Day 1 upgrades. Sure, I could pop into a T6 and grind a few million just to keep the Cobra, but why? Better to have a good Asp and the extra money for...

...insurance.

i had that window bug but in my case if i play full screen after 5 to 15 min it just drops to a windows screen and i have to shake the mouse to get elite back on, strange thing is that if i play in a window this does not happen

99% sure your GFX card is a few years old and struggling. It will likly die soon if this is your symptoms.

AMD card? Did you see the dreaded.'Windows has detected display driver stopped responding but it was recovered' - this means its not the driver and card is about to kick it 9/10 times.

Either way 100% your hardware and not ED. The good news is cards have never been cheaper. A $200 780 gtx will go a long way.

Ya all in here hammering on the guy only as long as it happens to you as well. Then you probably notice that a loan maximum of 200k serves nothing. I don't blame anyone for not noticing that tiny little spec on your right hand menu that informs you how much your rebuy is in case of a loss. Neither that amount nor the 200k insurance limit is explained anywhere in the game.
But oc it won't happen to you guys, you are all so smart and uber Elite. Sometimes a few words of sympathy can be of help, but those neocon and social darwinism attitudes in this forum are just disgusting.
