Unbiased PoV
I am not a current player of this game. I only just found out about it today. Naturally, I found my way to the forums when I found this thread and its inverse coming from the PoV of Traders. All I wanted to say was that I agree with BOTH topics.
The traders are complaining that they combat log and/or only play solo because the risk is not worth the reward to do this public event while Open. The pirates are upset because they accrue repair bills, insurance, and general annoyance because these traders are combat logging. Bounty hunters are experiencing the issue of Pirates almost always having clean slates.
That about sum it up?
I think its very possible to help all three parties. Give the traders what they want for this event - Give a special item or "something" for hauling X tonnes of mats. Make the risk of getting interdicted worth it.
Give the pirates their own version of "something" for successfully performing X interdictions WITHOUT obliterating the traders ship, but if they do destroy the player, give them an immense bounty on their heads. One that gives a serious pause to a pirate before destroying a players ship. And the carrot for the Pirate could be double the worth of stolen trade goods. I understand that someplayers want the role of a ship assassin. Well, give a bonus or special "something" if said ship assassin can last X IN GAME hours without being destroyed themselves.
Give the bounty hunters "something" for successfully interrupting X interdictions or for Killing/Disabling X pirates with bounties on their heads. Could even be extra bonus for destroying a ship with an "event bounty" that was used to kill a player. Or Maybe even something along the lines of Double bounty bonuses during an event.
(This "something" could be special in game loot, parts, ship, money or whatever)
These incentives could possibly help with the combat logging. And when I say double, more, extra bonus etc. Im not speaking literally. I dont know what the in game economy is like yet so I dont know if its too much or too little, but you get the point.
I also liked the idea about forcing players that combat log into the Solo Play mode for X hours or whatever. That seems like a fair way to do it for BOTH players and for both the innocent and guilty.
Anyways, like I said, havent even bought the game yet (will do so tonight) but from what I've been seeing, this game has some great potential if the devs can address some of these issues and/or implement some changes like this.
P.S. Being a non player right now, If I am completely waaay out in left field with these ideas, my bad, but I just wanted to provide an outside opinion
