Celebration at Lincoln Station - February 12, 3301

I just popped out of Abe and didn't see anyone. Made a pilgrimage all the way from Aphra too. :-(

I'm sorry, man - I wish you had been able to get into the instance I was in. Hopefully one of the attendees is a tech-savvy individual who can upload a video :) Jaiotu uploaded a video of the 14:00 meeting. Watch that, and know that you were with us in spirit, friend :)

FYI, everybody who was there, know that you weren't alone! ED uses a peer-to-peer connection (if I'm not mistaken - correct me if I'm wrong, techies :) ), so instances can only hold a few people. We had 7-8 people in our instance, and I'm told that was very lucky. Hopefully someone will upload a copy of our meeting, because it was really nice :) We had a reading of the Gettysburg Address and everything :D

Why dont you make these meetings on the weekend when people are at home and not at work?
Like 6pm saturday?
More people will come

It was his birthday today, hence the mid-week date.

Erm, it's already over, friend :(

Well considering how the instancing thing works... it is kinda hard to gather lots of players together.

Yeah - We had 7-8 people in our instance, and I'm told that was pretty lucky...

Quite a large number there at 6 in my instance. Nice chatting to other players and a few new friends made. Great to see other ships up close.
Really could do with a group chat for these events (even if event only) otherwise it's nose to nose 1:1 ships and spinning.

I just invited everyone nearby into voice chat, as that forms a group chat, apparently. It was a little crazy, and not everyone had a mic, but we made it work :)

I'm sorry, bud - The meet-up for US folks was yesterday night :( Why don't you watch the video? Almost as good as being there :) You could also message me in-game, I could read the Gettysburg Address to you over voice comms, hehe :p

Is it? I thought there was one more meeting later on for US players. I'm still at work! Noooooooooooooooooooooo

Unfortunately in-game time is all skewed for us folks in the USA. It's already 2/13/3301 in game. Still 2/12 in the USA. That's what the early meet was for... better time for USA players (a day early for us but still the right day in-game). This was kind of an experiment. If we do something like this again we'll have to have a "day after" meet for folks in the USA is suppose.

I showed my face in my clipper.

Bah I didn't her about it 'till it was over, I must have mist the post....

Er... and the GalNet story ;) For God's sake, read the news, man! lol :p

No worries - Put it in your calendar for next year, friend :)

I don't suppose one of the folks sharing my instance took a video from the 18:00 meet-up, by chance? I did a lot better reciting the Address that time around - I was kinda hoping to have it for posterity, hehe :)

In the end it unfortunately shows, that current game instancing system is not very suitable for similar kind of events. Let's hope that with Wings system will be possible to make much larger groups for this (despite possible lags, etc. )

Quite a few people in my instance flying around, checking out ships, generally showing off and having fun. Nice event, thanks!

(Yes, some sort of "local chat" to broadcast in the local instance would be much better for this type of event)

Thanks for sharing your screenshots and video, guys! Favoriting that 14:00 meetup :D Will even link from my less successful video, haha.

It was a pointless non event, nothing happened just a load of CMDR's bobbing about aimlessly waiting for something. Could have had a firework display or something.

It wasn't something the developers did, it was completely player-sourced. We make our own fireworks :p If the devs had organized it then there might have been more, but aside from instance fragmentation I'm happy with what came of it.
