Wear and tear ..... now 3m in my asp ....

Old subject but theres still an area that doesnt make common sense

I buy an 80 grand car
i thrash it for a week and now it has a 40 grand repair bill
however, the garage will give me 72 grand trade in for it against a new one

the question : Where does the 40 grand of damage come from ?

To be fair, in terms of lore, the Asp has long since been out of production but "replacement parts" are available, and probably low in supply. This makes for expensive maintenance on both "normal" repairs and wear & tear repairs. Or is that the Cobra I'm thinking of?

Either way, the cost of Wear and Tear goes through the roof for ANYTHING that costs more than the Cobra, so saying "its out of production" doesn't really work here.

ED Top end ships. Too expensive to buy, fit out, run & maintain. Unless of course you used all the exploits to make money. I realised my ambition to own a condor will never happen. Because I would have to grind for the next year.

Was wear&tear increased in 1.1? Haven't gotten round to playing it more than a few minutes yet. Got an Asp and a Type 7, and things weren't bad before 1.1.

EXCEPT THIS ISNT A REAL LIFE THING if you cant handle a bigger ship then downsize to a cobra

3m repair costs? Are you sure about that? I went on a 10 day exploration adventure, came back with 0% integrity and repaired everything for 345k. Made 6m on exploration data so I don't think it's a major problem in the Asp unless you miscount the number of 0's.

Edit: This was after 1.1 as well.

The cobra mk. III was told to be "one of the older but reliable models" in Elite and Frontier if i recall that right. The ASP is only known for its jump range and exploration capabilities as far as i know. Maybe they should go for a daily fee instead of damage to the ship. Would make the system more believable without dropping the costs. Could also be affected by status and affiliation in the system. Maybe we see a little overhaul here soon. However it is not a big issue in my opinion. Big ship have big maintenance costs, so we need to deal with it.

Everyone, almost literally, everyone thinks wear and tear costs too much, and yet you think it's this guys issue he cannot handle a bigger ship? Get some logical reasoning skills.

Pay your wear & tear often as you go and you don't even feel it. Neglect it, or let it build to prove a point and it should cost you. Just because almost everyone resents having to pay for those big ships, doesn't mean they shouldn't have to.

Bigger is not always better just as rank A gear is not always the best choice. It may be that a smaller ship would be a better fit. I think that was the point...though it could have been said with a little more tact.

My asp is mostly A fitted. I check my W&T nearly every time i dock and pay when it gets to 99% which seems to be about every hour of play. It costs me around 4k whereas in the same period im making about 500k profit and my credit balance is currently 26m. To say that 'everyone thinks wear and tear costs too much' is equally facile and asinine in my humble opinion...

If it was only wear & tear, fine. But repair also costs a lot, and gas gets a LOT more expensive on bigger ships, too.

.........still no printscreen huh? So... we're just assuming 100% repair for an Asp is 3m and agreeing that wear and tear is too much?

Yes,I do that, and even in an Asp it only seems to be 800cr here, 1500cr there. However, leave it to build up over time and suddenly you are into 100k to 200k repairs and even more! A little and often and you don't notice it against a good trade sale, but as a one off it can wipe out a full cargo's profit margin!

hmm, wear&tear is kinda okay in momma's dearest Python. Haven't payed to much attention to it, honestly, but I think it is estimated ~ 100k per hour on average. But I try to avoid long supercruising, maybe that helps. And I play pretty relaxed, no grinding, mainly PvE Elite Anaconda assassinations and some additional high payout missions (70k+) and some trading (160t, not much for a Python) on the side. Make 800k to ~1 mill an hour without much problem (deductions already included, I talk about "more money in the bank"), depending on the USS generator, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Could easily make more if I trade grind, but don't feel like it. Feels okay to me. Maybe the Asp is broken, but it is not big ships in general.

You went on a 10 day exploration adventure after 1.1 came out? Impressive... Seeing as it came out 4 days ago.

No, but I repaired after the 1.1 update so I assume the costs would be the same. 3m may be genuine, may be a bug, or maybe just misreading the numbers.
