I think this has been an exploit previously when people were doing it over and over again to get rich quick which is why i posed the question. I would have been happy to trade in which i would think of as a bit like getting a good deal on a new car after heavy use on the old one. But as it would be for 15% less 10% it hardly seems worth the bother...
Anyone suggest a place near Nourse that actually sells good equipment?
I tried a couple of "high tech" systems nearby that didn't have anything Asp-tier at all before asking ... thanks, I'll head for Qama!
I think it is in Nourse Orbital only as it previously did not have Asp in stock. After the event it appeared there. I think I checked in Qama before I went back to Nourse and it was not dicounted there.
You could always sell all the high-end equipment from you Cobra as the refund is 100%. Just sell the ones that you can buy back from the very same station. I think Qama has quite a huge storage of high level equipment. Strip down the Cobra and leave her there until you get back and buy the euipment back.
I just sold my Cobra. I only lost ~30.000 cr in that deal. I rather keep only one ship.

That's what I did, made about 330,000 profit:-
1. Go to Nourse Orbital Outfitting.
2. Sell the components you can sell (weapons, etc on the first tab as well as internal stuff on the second tab). The components you can't sell - downgrade to their lowest value option. These components will remain in the "Buy back" list for you to easily get back later. Stripping your ship before selling is better as you get the full money back for components, whereas you'll lose 10% if you sell your ship with them still attached.
3. Go into the shipyard and select to buy the discounted Asp. Choose the option of storing your current ship in storage. EDIT: I think this is the right option, doing this from memory as I'm at work.
4. You'll now be in your new Asp. In the Shipyard go to the Stored ships tab and select your old Asp and then sell it (you'll get 10% less than what you paid for it).
5. Go back to outfitting and re-kit your new Asp. As I said above, the components you sold before will be in the "Buy back" list at the top, so you can easily get them back.

I just got back in - had to stop at the nav and ended up in a rumble with 2 annies... got em down but had to turn tail after my shields dropped in both their firing range.
Havent been interdicted in that system tho...

I was in Nourse yesterday, claimed my 30k CR from the BB, but no Asp in shipyard. Found no Asp at any other station in Lambda Andromedae, left this morning to a neighbour system (forgot the name), to check if they have an Asp on discount. No they don't, but got 50k CR bounty for killing an NPC Python pulling me out of SC Will go back to Nourse this evening...
I don't think so. After the Yembo CG I claimed my reward a few days later, and it disappeared (I think) 9 days after the CG ended, not 9 days after I claimed my reward. So I believe the 7 day discount period already started yesterday.
Good luck, new Asp owners. I couldn't afford the discounted ship, so I legged it back to my neck of the woods. With the creds earned from all the exploring, plus the bonus for the event, I was able to store my trusty Cobra and fly off in a shiny new T6, upgraded to a semi-decent specs, on my first ever attempt at doing a 22-stop rares run in the biggest ship I have yet owned. I'm hopeful I can make enough to return to Lambda A for the Asp before the discount runs out.

can anyone advise a good nearby system to spec it up for exploring (A & D class) or is it worth me heading to Jameson Memorial (i've got a founders world permit)

They bloody well should! It's about time the Corp stop twiddling their thumbs and step up and show the Galaxy who should be running things. FD said they were the biggest and most powerful Corp and that they owned several systems outright. Well, I haven't seen them outside Sirius apart from some pitiful presence in nearby systems.
Though, nice to see such a fine group of skilled pilots working for the Corp. Good job everyone!

Whoa... once we're able to walk around stations, that one better look derelict and haunted
