I am with you on this one. I bet that the real reason is that it will kill the performance, surely for XBox and probably on most PCs. I remember that in some car arcade games, the rear view was rendered at half (or even less) speed than the actual front view to save some muscles and used simplified rendering with less or no graphical effects. And putting such thing into ED cockpit will break the immersion - at least for me.How about being constructive?
The only problem with the scanner is that I have not found any easy way to target the ship behind (to see its orientation and rotational movement). Searching it in the list of the left contact panel is not an option in the combat.
