Is this a pending price drop on ships?

It might, if it isn't just a straight discount and includes a dropping of rebuy costs for 'combat' ships.

The rebuy cost of ships and equipment is already affected by any discount of the purchase price, so the two points are one and the same.

I like how the news comes out right after I bought the Vulture, like 10 seconds. Still within the 7 days change of mind full refund period boys, so take it back at full price lol

If price will be cut, you will be refunded for difference (as usual previous price nerfs for ships).

I thought the first thing everyone learned when playing, was to sit tight for a few days after a new version ships........ cuz, it is gonna change......lol.

Generally the final price is set first on the building cost and only after on the purpose. A Yacht and a Container Ship are not comparable that way. The latter is 100x bigger and expensive to build...

Yes, but the FDL and the Type-9 are both fictional, and so the building costs don't exist and therefore aren't much help as a guideline. You have to look at the purpose and then try and make it make sense in relation to the ship's role in the game, and parallel's to the real world. Yes, a container ship is 100x bigger than a yacht. The Type-9 is four times bigger than the FDL. The Type-9 being cheaper than the FDL therefore doesn't make sense either for its in game role, or in a real world analogy.

It being a 'luxury ship' isn't a sufficient justification for the massive price tag. At that price, it has no viable in game role, and personal luxuries in the real world don't cost more than massive commercial operations, so nor should they in game. Right now, the FDL is an overpriced novelty ship like the Orca. They could halve the price and it still be expensive.

Is this likely to affect equipment costs too? The initial price of any ship is only a small part of the price of a useable ship. About 1/6th of the cost of it fully upgraded if not more usually.

If the Vulture goes into the Asp price bracket (where it belongs really) I might actually be able to pick one up, so yay. I first noticed they started making game balancing announcements in-universe style with the galnet news about the scandal of galactic price fixing over repair costs, and I thought that was a very simple and clever way of making game changes fit into the storyline. I'll be keeping an eye on the news posts now since they might actually be useful.

Here's hoping. Want the Vulture but was about 5Mil short last night to be able to buy one.

Fingers crossed :)

I thought the Vulture should cost around the same as an Asp when the details were first released a while ago. I'd be surprised with the rebalancing if it's cheaper than 15m

Well, I said "yacht" and "container ship" rather than "most expensive yacht" and "most expensive container ship", indicating an average rather than an extreme. You know, as might be bought by a "well healed bounty hunter" rather than a billionaire oligarch. But, seeing as you've gone to this effort to prove me right now, I suppose I'll just run with it:

Estimated price $450m to $1.2b. Split the difference. Call it $825m. That's £552m.

Is that more or less than £930m? Even $1.2b would be £803m. More or less?

Regarding ED - The Panther Clipper is still to be released.

So is the Dolphin. And is the Imperial Clipper really the last word in Imperial luxury?

And that's just failing to justify the price on real world analogies. You haven't even attempted to justify the in game role. Meanwhile, in the background, FDev have announced a price drop...

Brought a FDL last night but didn't have the money to fit her out, so I went on a Beryllium binge and nearly had enough credits when I saw the server going down notice and read the Galnet news item. It had a Special White little token in the corner of the articles headline to get your attention, never seen it before, but I am just curious to see what happens now chaps.......balance on some prices like the FDL and Vulture and reduction overall of 10 to 30 percent on all combat ships....or just a reduction on ''all combat orientated craft''....mmmm....maybe both.

So it turns out this is how they're announcing to "fix" the Price Table for combat Ships - coming soon(tm) to a Shipyard near you :D

It really made me spontaneously laugh hard, it's rare that the Game still does that...

Sorry for all guys that "jumped the gun" and tossed countless Millions of Credits at the new ships http://www.falconfly.de/img/chatt.gif

People are getting reimbursed so no big deal. Confirmed by the devs.

Also, no one knows how much the reduction will be yet, so don't you jump the gun either.....

What about the Freagle that the backers got and then sold for 40,000Cr. Will the rebate mean that the difference will be taken out of our credit balance? What about other ships that were sold, will the difference be taken retroactively? :D
