This is while the game was in its kickstarter as well and all options had to be considered. Lately the producer specifically stated that a mechanic making it where you can use real money to pay for your insurance when you're out of credits was and I quote, "off the table". If a producer is so determined to keep a token out of the game that you pay for with real money that only allows you to pay for a mistake -- how receptive do you think he will really be when considering purchasing a ship which you can turn around and sell for massive quantities of credits?

If only David could find a minute one of these days, to step out and tell us what's in their current plans regarding this matter. I bet you'd be disappointed, though. Literally everything indicates that the credit shop will be opened some time in the future, and I'll be truly amazed if we don't get it.

Since it was edited, you might have missed it. And I'm curious about the answer.

What do you feel a fair price for an Anaconda would be?

you know, I really don't know. It's a fair question. Games really are the only thing I do to blow off steam, so I guess I am willing to spend more than most. I guess it would depend on the demographics for this game... for whatever reason, MWO has a much older demographic (the vast majority of MWO players are in the upper 20 to 30s range), so that game can support charging more, and people won't complain, nor will it really hurt anyone (and, fwiw, even if someone spends $1000 a month on the game, because there is an "earned" element to it, they will never, ever be able to beat out the more hard core people))).

I don't have a sense for the demographic here... if it's mostly younger people, or people that just can't afford to blow cash on games, then maybe $20 is the right target number.

No, actually, as usual, you ignored the most salient points I made. See point one, and lose the focus on the word "silly"

You mean you want me to pretend you didn't use the word silly, like I truly transgressed you with an attack that didn't even apply to you. Oh, how silly of me. Your point is that I attacked you, when the attack wasn't directed at you but at the vast majority of those who champion pay 2 win, and it wasn't an attack, it was pure fact as years of experience dictate. Maybe you're not understanding that word -- experience.

I now see why there's such a vast difference in our views. You say you "sleep only four hours" so you can "work 6 hours" the next day. When I said a "job", I didn't mean parttime. I am full time, unfortunetly (for my family) mostly 6 days a week, with extensive travel. So, I don't have the time you have for video games. Even if I had free time, I'd spend it with my kids. So I get a few hours here and there to blow off steam.

No, 6 hours to raid, not to work. I was in the US Army at the time and worked 12 hour shifts 12 on 12 off 7 days a week.

Thank you for making this clear. I see now that we're just at very different places in life. I fully understand why you defend this so intensely, and have so much time for it, and can't possibly understand why others wouldn't have more time.

That word ... silly.

It would be the end of the game, as soon as one person hit the instant win button (the credit shop) and started camping all the new players in an instance and they started demanding refunds, it would be utterly over except for the jerks and griefers which would spend every dime trying to out do their jerkiness to each other.

The U.S. army? What game were you playing?

And point 1 -- reread. Absorb. Think before typing. Then respond.
C'mon chip.. YOU CAN DO IT!!! We're all behind you!!! GO CHIP, GO!
stop being so silly!!!

Ok, then let me ask you. What do you feel a fair price for an Anaconda would be?

100 EUR sounds just about right. I'd certainly buy one for me and perhaps another as a gift for someone for whom I care. Now let me ask you this: how would this affect your game, and why?

Some years back, when we were all playing Warcraft (yeah I know :D)), my friends and I all agreed on one thing. The journey to level 60 was actually more fun than being level 60, especially as we didn't have many hours to devote to gaming - kids, work, real life just gets in the way. A (then) teenager that I know didn't have the patience to learn the game and level their character choosing instead to pay somebody else to do it. A few weeks later sporting a level 60 in epic gear they announced that the game was boring, too hard and that their was nothing to do and quit. While it sounds reasonable for somebody who wishes to circumvent the grind to pay real money for a ship it does concern me that it won't stop at that. Maybe a way can be found. A ship that can't be sold for in game credits for example, or maybe you can buy any ship you like but they are only available in bright pink.

Some idealists might be lost, yes, but they would gain much more than that on the other side.

I am still waiting to see any rational explanation why buying ships (or credits, whatever) for RL cash would be bad for a game which has been built as ED: basically a single player with heavily instanced multiplayer added as an option, with no dynamic player driven market, no manufacturing, no territorial control... hardly a competitive game. Lot of people seem to get overly emotional over this for no reason at all.

Would you have a problem with them also selling Elite status in the store?

Okay folks.

STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD

Let's take a few minutes, stop with the whole baiting thing, and come back here in a while once I've been through and Yaffled the thread.
