It'll never happen, people will continue to whine for their favoured playstyle regardless.
At least FD had the sense to make one forum topic to dump all these in.
You would be correct if it were a debate. It is no longer a debate, it's a settled issue that some people don't like. Therefore we have this threadnaught where all of the posts of "The game should be like this (even though I know it won't be)" can be moved to improve the signal to noise ratio of the rest of the forum - because at this stage that's all it is. Noise.
This is the cleanest solution the mods could have come up with. Those that are newly inspired that "hey it should be like this" get to see the monster thread and realize that it's not a new thing and has already been thoroughly dealt with while those who already know it's a done deal but think somehow by saying it should be otherwise over and over again it will make a difference don't get to disrupt the rest of the forum with it.
They could have been much more draconian and just put a closed sticky up there saying "Posts advocating against mode switching or objecting to the shared universe between the games three modes will be deleted without mercy. Repeat posters, particularly in threads where it is OT will receive infractions" but they didn't do that - they just gathered them all together in one spot.
They will, even though recent Dev posts have said things are not going to change, I don't quite see it as whining, more like some people trying to change the game because they don't understand why FD made it this way and they didn't understand what they were buying into, and others that did and are pretty happy with what they have (ok we know a lot more is needed, but that's another topic, or 386 threads).
I think somewhere in this thread it was at least hinted at, that this thread was the merge target for the similar ones, mainly, because more recently, there had been a flurry of great new ways to fix the game to eliminate imaginary problems, and most involved this subject.
DBOBE & FD have said from the start they are going to make the game they want to play, again I have no hope of finding it but I recall seeing that ~ 10 - 20% of the people playing have a forum account, I was surprised it was so low, I guess most of them don't have a major problem right now, if I did I would look here first, and have done a few times, in fact I joined the forum > 6 months ago as I had a problem getting the game to run.
To a clearly significant issue. It's so bad they have to move it all so it doesn't clog up the forum.
That says a lot.
To say that the issue of Open Vs Solo is done and dusted is rubbish. The more multiplayer inclined players that come into the game, the more they realise their actions and the games progression is being stunted because of the solo mode (and outside of opens influence). I only see this thread getting more popular.
Open and Solo is done and dusted, Devs have stated there are no plans to change the current implementation. The more multiplayer inclined players that come into the game, the more they realize that their actions need to be modulated to fit the game, and that their progression is being stunted because of their inability to modify their behavior or thought processes, and solo mode has nothing to do with that. I only see this thread getting longer.
You say that now... give it a few months...
If I wanted my behaviour and thought processes changed - I would go for cognitive behavioural therapy.
I've been saying it for years. And those who won't accept their behavior or thought processes must change to meet the specifics of whichever situation or environment they want to partake in - well, there are places for those people. Wether it's the bad side of someones ignore list, barred from a pub, or prison - is entirely up to them.
You can't be serious. You're associating people that like the open mode to people that require barring from pub, or prison.
Get a grip.
Perhaps you need the cognitive behavioural therapy to change your behaviour and thought processes.
Sounds to me that you indirectly admit abusing criscrossing...
Michael may say what their current intentions are, but if some day this system abuse becomes really big problem(if it's not already), open full of 'solo-trader,open-griefers' and FD does have to do something about it to keep their multiplayer sandbox alive, I will be there to say 'I told you so'. In the end it's all about what makes money.
I'm perfectly serious - and I said nothing of the sort. How you come to that conclusion is up to you, matters not to me.
If you don't want us to your universe, why should you be able to affect us and our universe from your universe? why do you have to even have option to crisscross between? If you don't want us to your universe, why do you have been given option to warp from your universe to ours with your pimped out python or anaconda? Nobody cares if you want to play solo. Sure, go ahead. That is not the problem here. It becomes problem when you pretty much abuse it. I'd compare it to combat logging level of system abuse.
As if they cannot learn ...
You have definitively compared people that want Open seperate from Solo as bad people. You put them in the same bracket as people barred from pubs or criminals.
From the Kickstarter;
*And the best part - you can do all this online with your friends, or other "Elite" pilots like yourself, or even alone. The choice is yours...*
*you will be able to control who else you might encounter in your game – perhaps limit it to just your friends? Cooperate on adventures or chase your friends down to get that booty. The game will work in a seamless, lobby-less way, with the ability to rendezvous with friends
*Play it your way*
Your reputation is affected by your personal choices. Play the game your way: dangerous pirate, famous explorer or notorious assassin - the choice is yours to make. Take on missions and affect the world around you, alone or with your friends.*
*You simply play the game, and depending on your configuration (your choice) *
*We have the concept of “groups”. They can be private groups just of your friends or open groups (that form part of the game) based on the play styles people prefer, and the rules in each can be different. Players will begin in the group “All” but can change groups at will,*

All Players Group– Players in this group will be matched with each other as much as possible to ensure as many human players can meet and play together
Private Group – Players in this group will only be matched with other players in the same private group
Solo Group – Players in this group won’t be matched with anyone else ever (effectively a private group with no one else invited)

Also, MMO does not mean "social" (It means lots of people connected)
A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting large numbers of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet. MMOs usually have at least one persistent world, however some games differ.
No, he said those that cannot adjust to their current situation either need help or locking up.
The comparison is - if you bought ED thinking it was one thing, then found out that it is not what you thought - either adjust or give up.
(If I'm understanding it correctly)
As for what ED is, this opens the way for my reminder of the information people didn't read before buying...
If folks researched the game BEFORE buying it - this thread would not be here.
Quite honestly even if it was an old debate there has been a large influx of players since launch. A lot come from MMOs and other multiplayer games. (I come from Planetside 2 as my main multiplayer game). To say that the issue of Open Vs Solo is done and dusted is rubbish. The more multiplayer inclined players that come into the game, the more they realise their actions and the games progression is being stunted because of the solo mode (and outside of opens influence). I only see this thread getting more popular.

Thats the problem. "The current situation" is different than set out in Kickstarter/alpha. The game has changed its target audience. The game through Wings and with the Xbox One edition on the way is appealing to a different bunch of players than before release. Frontier have a choice, continue on with the status quo or appeal to the new demographic. This thread is going to continue to get added to whether you like it or not as the multiplayer people are already here and will continue appearing.

What has the "multiplayer people" got to do with anything? They can play in private groups or the public group - the game, is all ready set up for them and the "new demographic".
Nothing from the list of information I have posted (some of it 2 years old now) has actually changed. They made improvements to multi (aka wings) - which was asked for (by the PC players no less).
What they are not doing, is removing the modes and forcing open play (which is what this thread is about and has been since the start)
