Correct Pronunciation of Lave

DB is not a role model for pronunciation as he cant even say Cobra properly - should be Co-bra, not Cob-ra :)
Lave as in shave for inter-galacticos, but the natives pronounce it Lar-vey I believe.

Depends on where you are from I guess, the -shave pronunciation would be very much an American "a" sound.

English or Australian "a" sound with pronounce it closer to "o" and "i" sound, so Lave would be more like "larve"

Dead right - as an Australian teenager in 1984 I pronounced it as "Larve" and that old habit will never change.

Lave - Lahv
Diso - Die-so
Riedquat - Reed-quat
Leesti - Lease-tea
Facece - Fass-ess
Tionisla - Tie-on-is-la
Zaonce - Zay-ons
Orerve - Orr-erv
Dahan - De-hahn

These are a few I have noticed being pronounced wrong. Rest assured, these are straight from the colonists mouths. Up the New Galactic Dictionary!

It's always been "Larv" to me, and I have no idea why. It wasn't until I made my first trip to Lave in ED that I even questioned the pronunciation I had in my head. At which point I was pretty sure I was wrong as "Larv" makes no sense. Still, it's been too many years now, I'll probably say it that way forever.

Found this on Galnet

The system of Lave, home to over 4 billion people, has erupted into civil war today. The conflict started just hours after news broke that the frontier system was planning to change the pronunciation of its name.

We spoke to local resident and farmer, Gryph Jones, who woke up this morning to find he now has to pronounce his home planet as Lah Vey. He had this to say on the matter:

"Pah!, I won't say I support this war, the revolutionaries are monsters and criminals, but the inability of the local government to get our name right is exactly why those folks are so unpopular here! The Alliance are too busy playing with Linguistics and Tree Grubs - maybe both sides will kill each other off, I can't help but think we'd be better off for it.”
