I was always sympathetic to Jonesy, his role as the ship's ratter was made just a tad impossible.......
Jonesy is the coolest & bravest movie cat ever in my view and don't forget was also the last remaining member of the Nostromo crew. He didn't need flame-throwers or M41A1 pulse rifles to face down a hostile Alien. He just did ninja cat stuff.
Alien thought process:
1: bite
2: spit acid
3: stab people with tail
4: chase humans
5: live in ship crawl spaces
6: Run away from orange ball of terror, for it uses secret magical fighting powers of the Ninja.
For everything else, there's a face hugger.

Bio Unit Jones was one of the banes of my Spectrum gaming. There was an Alien game for the Spectrum, back in the day it was the scariest game I'd ever played.
So much time spent trying to find that blinking cat (One of the option was to save up to 3 crew members in the shuttle but it wouldn't launch without bio unit Jones.)
I know it doesn't look much today but back then it wasn't a game to play with the lights out.
