isn't there enough threads on this forum asking where elite 4 is without adding yet another one? If its getting made it will get made, no end of pointless threads all asking the same thing with the same replies isn't going to change that.

My programming skills are rather outdated. Haven't done any coding since my teenage years...
If you add up all the suffering and frustration caused by David Braben's refusal to release Elite IV, it's possible that we could all write a joint letter to the following:

Off you go - just make sure you create a forum where we can arbitrarily hurl disparaging comments about the time you're taking to complete the game.
In all seriousness I'd chip in as well if I has a modicum of skill when it comes to creating games!

All joking aside, I think the only way the game will ever surface is if the community get together and make it ourselves.
Well if it came down to interest in the game, if you add together all the posts in the other sections of this forum except for the Elite section, they still wouldn't come close to matching it's 11000 + posts. I think that says it all really.
As for community based efforts, that's just what Oolite, Pioneer and FFE3D have been attempting to do. Without them this loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooog wait would have been near unbearable

There are also a few other project which could be used to create a Frontier game.
Although much more work would be required to do it.

Like most "old-timers" here, I gave up hope of E4 when the Outsider was canned. The lack of any information from Frontier is disappointing, but my guess is they are struggling to survive, and we are very low on their list of priorities.

5 years on the forum, and E4 is receding into the distance like a redshifted star. The plus side is being part of an intelligent, knowledgable, humorous forum: you and several others have made this journey worthwhile, even if "Turwhitt High" will never make it into orbit.
