General / Off-Topic Best Joke

As stated widely, you only gain rank credits if you kill above your current rank. You can kill a 1000 novices and not get anywhere.

Why did Nivea cream?
Because Max factor!

Unfortunately, this was the only joke I could remember when being asked for one at a job interview.

I can can safely say this is the sole reason for me not being an account manager for Natwest these days.

A plane load of UN delegates are informed by the pilot that they haven't enough fuel to make it to the airport - they must lighten the plane...

So they throw out all the luggage, but it's not light enough yet...

They throw out all the seats, but it's still not light enough...

So the Englishman steps forward, says 'God save the Queen' and jumps, but it still isn't light enough...

The Frenchman steps up, shouts 'Vive la France' and jumps, but it still the plane isn't light enough...

So the American strides forward, shouts 'Remember the Alamo!' and...

Throws out the Mexican :)

so by this logic, me having elite status in an Anaconda makes me the king kamayhamayha uber player?

Cause I am in an Anaconda and I do have Elite in combat so. Just wondering if we're getting cooler titles. I wouldn't mind going as King Kamayhamayha uberdude.

Hey, I have Elite in combat too and an anaconda. Farming conflict zones is a hoot isn't it?

Well I bought a Vulture this afternoon after returning from a four week exploration trip. Currently a Combat Novice with some cash to spare. I thought I might use it for the next Buckyball race to see if it can take on the haulers. I may not be a Novice for much longer as it seems quite straightforward to kill NPC's in the Mitnahs conflict zone.

out of interest what do you do for fun in game?

Make futile efforts to influence the background simulator in the Alliance's favor. Belt ratting wanted targets in resource extraction sites (fastest way to gain reputation it seems and decent money), assassination missions (pretty good money as long as they don't bug out), and the occasional supply run/delivery mission to break up the monotony. We like supporting the Alliance in conflict zones, but we haven't done much of that since it doesn't pay as well as belt ratting/assassinations and we're still trying to save up to kit out our vultures. Unfortunately we haven't run into other players in the conflict zones yet. I've been trying to convince my friend to hunt down one of the big CMDR bounties since we were in vipers, but he seems more interested in settling down in Alioth and helping the Alliance expand, which I'm also interested in so I'm cool with that for now. We had settled in several systems (some anarchy) for various periods of time before news of a civil war on GALNet finally drew us to 78 Ursae Majoris. We were pretty disapointed that there were not conflict zones when we got there, but we were glad to have finally found ourselves a home in Alliance space. I still get a bit of wanderlust though and would like to do some more exploring. As far as ships, the Vulture was my end game, but once I get it kitted out I want to buy a sidewinder and experiment with different builds for that. I like small, stealthy ships. Maybe I'll give smuggling a try. I initially stayed in the sidewinder for a while, but after getting blown up a few times too many I decided I needed to move on to the viper if I wanted to make any money bounty hunting. I think my friend wants to save up for a FDL. We tried mining and trading very briefly, but quickly decided we had a lot more fun doing combat.
Hope that answers your question. :D

So what? Now we have to have a certain rank or must be wanted to fly specific ships or something? I am also a novice and own a Vulture and am also clean too. I fail to see the significance, especially since my current rank has been gained mainly from combat against pirates who have interdicted me in my T6 and my T6 used fixed lasers, not gimballed or turrets.

So let's see, if I can gain novice rank in a T6, what rank can I achieve in a much more agile and better armed Vulture I wonder? I'm still fitting it out for combat and still playing with loadouts to find one that suits my combat style but it will be fun to find out when it's fully spec'd.

I'm sorry my rank has increased to competent. Until recently I was mostly harmless in an Eagle.

And had to teach quite a few CMDR's in bigger ships that 25 years of sim experience means game ranks can't always be taken at face value.

I think what the OP failed to realize is simple. The game is undergoing a sort of renaissance with the new balance updates. Traders are trying Bounty hunting, Bounty Hunters are venturing out to explore, Explorers are trading, it's like musical ships right now!
