Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

only do that if theyre populated. iirc, USS spawns happen based on system population, so if it's empty you wait forever.

every player, you included spawns npc's and uss's, just throttle all the way down then put it up a notch and the USS will spawn. I think they might have added something to stop people from spawning USS at 0 speed.

It's certainly not stopped, but it does seem to be really really really reduced. I spent ages in LFT92Blah last night looking for bounty hunters to destroy (mission) only to find that I had fallen foul of the mission branch of doom. Despite checking the ships for KWS etc. still didn't get credit for killing them after taking on two FDL's on my own in a vulture I was not impressed.

Did I miss something?

After a bad start to the evening where I destroyed my Python by boosting it into the back of Hartsfield Market (wasn't concentrating, cost 3m Cr, now have 5A rather than 3A shields), I reckon I did about 20 missions of different types. Let's hope it keeps working!

Quite a lot of commanders hanging around in Lugh in Open Play last night, most of whom I didn't recognise. Hello if that was you!

I crashed last night too! Stupid moment. It happens... :(

If you don't get many USS' spawning, try flying to a Gas Giant in system with lots of moons. They will spawn more often, although I don't do this as I've got lots of patience.

has anyone noticed if it matters what type you go for, USS Vs. SSS Vs. WSS. The two bounty hunters in FDL's were in a SSS. should we still be sticking to USS for missions?

I think cannisters are found at WSS's.

I also experienced this. And in USS's i encountered mostly single ships beeing also the ones giving you the aternate mission goal. As for SSS's i saw different combinations. Most of them contained some Vultures, Type 6-9's, FDL's and Cobras. There were also rare combinations in SSS's like three Anacondas shooting me imediately or a wing of three containing two Anacondas and one Type 9 carrying those AI artefacts and some of the other new high value commodities.

she bout to get a coup all up in her business.

btw, who/what is this shadow president hudson chap?

if they did it didn't stop me :D i was doin 30km/s for all of my USSs. they appeared more frequently in empty systems than i am used to, so maybe they patched that as well.

my fix was mainly for assassination missions. hunt missions on the other hand have their own, unique bugs associated with them. i dont even bother.

One reason i hesitate to leave the system to explore is because i dont wanna miss the local news. Could someone post up said local news in this thread?

i second this, what's the news?

Sorry! We're currently intentionally being a bit quiet as things settle down after the way so that anyone else keeping an eye on the thread isn't attracted to make trouble. But you're both quite right, without the daily updates it's difficult to know what's going on. Would be good to get orfeboy's thoughts on whether it's time to bring back the daily updates...

Dev Update - 01.04.2015

Hi everyone,

I realise the date and this isn't an April Fools post!

The big release for this week is the Mac beta. If you have beta access then you can access the Mac beta by downloading the launcher from the store in the downloadable products page. You then install the launcher and the game as normal. Any issues found in the Mac beta should be reported in the Mac beta area of the bug reports forums here:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=112

General discussion on the Mac beta should take place in the Mac area of the forum here:

We’re also working on the Powerplay update which is shaping up to be the biggest update so far. We know you’re all excited to learn the details and there will be a big announcement in around three weeks’ time. I can say that it will include a new method of interaction in the galaxy.

As well as the big ticket items we’re also working on smaller, but still important additions and improvements. A major part of this is balancing the different roles further and part of this is expanding the drones system. Collection drones will be added and will prove useful for pirates needing to gather cargo in a hurry and also to improve mining efficiency. Players will also be able to transfer fuel using the fuel transfer drones so players can act as buddy tankers for each other.

The collection drones have two modes of operation. The first is a targeted mode where you select something to collect and fire the drone which then collects the cargo or mining chunk and returns it to the ship – make sure that your cargo door is open! This will consume the drone. There’s also an area collection mode so when fired without a target the drone will collect what it can within a radius before it expires.

Last week we released the latest minor update (1.2.06) for the game which contained various fixes and tweaks. Two of the changes impacted the background sim in particular and knowing how many of you enjoy delving into the simulation here are a some details on those changes. Minor factions enter conflict in a few ways such as overtaking a rival minor faction’s influence or reaches 70% but isn’t the controlling minor faction. So once a conflict is declared it then enters one of three states: civil war, war and election. The state is selected from the following criteria:

- Election: two minor factions of the same type that isn't criminal, regardless of home star system
- Civil War: two minor factions of different types or are both criminals, with the same home star system
- War: two minor factions of different types from different home star systems

The conflict ends when the maximum duration is reached or their influence levels move too far apart in the daily update. The victor will the try to take ownership of the loser’s most important starport in the system.

Thanks!

Michael

Should we help the Jets in Eta Crucis against the Feds? There is a battlecruiser over there - that is rather close I would say ...

If you're not doing missions (please do missions!) then that sounds like a very worthy cause that supports fellow nearby independents.

So nice to finish the evening by interdicting and destroying a wanted Silver Natural Anaconda in my Vulture. That'll be 136,124 Cr, thank you!

I am unable to read 351 pages. Could someone in the know kindly answer my question please?:

How much manpower and in what sort of time frame did it take to shift power in a station?
