The Star Citizen Thread v 3.0

Yep, the Borg got it right. :)

:D

Actually, if you wan't to get pedantic, a tetrahedron is actually better than a cube, both for manouvering (http://clowder.net/hop/tetships/tetships.html), and for dissipation of heat (tetrahedron has the largest surface area to volume ratio of all simple polyhedrons)

Interesting, but surely not efficient for equipment, storage and living spaces? Anyone whos lived in a converted attic will attest to how the angled ceilings a jip!!

This is why I have decided to ignore some folks on this thread and I suggest you do the same. The hypocrisy is staggering.

Thing is I don't wish to ignore :)!! I need ALL the info I just wish the negatives were delivered with more intelligence and not repeated ad nauseum. I already know there's issues with the handling and the P2W, I'm patient to see how these issues will be resolved. If they go the right way for me I buy the game, if they don't I don't buy it..simple as that. I don't need to hear the same stuff over and over and over again!!

I was maybe harsh on 1500 because of the awful sniping Project CARS got/still gets from certain people. He's got points and should make them I never said he couldn't, I just have issues with the way those points are delivered

You should understand that this place is not to talk about people who criticize or praise Star Citizen, but about Star Citizen itself.
If you have a counter argument against things that 1500 say, say it. But not against him or his ways.
This is a forum of discussion...the title is "Star Citizen", not "1500", so no, you should not criticize him, or praise him.
"I want this... I want that... I dont need this... I heard that already" you say.
Last that I heard you are not the owner of this forum. Others could be interested in his opinion and did not hear yet before.

I don't know where you get this but last spring it was very clear that Subscribers would get Test Pilot Badges which would allow them to fly ships for a week. That was in the spring of 2014. So nothing new again.

Oh I know, just pointing out how when subscribers were pitched originally, CIG stated that they would not get in game advantages. If you remember those Test Pilot Badges were going to be ONE a month, and give the player a SINGLE DAY of access to any ship they wanted. Also remember that back then we were under the impression that everyone would be getting the ability to UNLOCK all ships and items through play (yes even for AC). That is different than giving the ability to rent the most power full ships to subscribers only and then giving them a ton of REC on top of that. Now its only subscribers that can "unlock" all ships, keeping that P2W alive. What is odd is that CIG stated that REC was a reaction to all the P2W comments, but they had already promised some type of system already so that didn't sound right.

Then what is this post then? moaning about someone moaning about someone moaning about Star Citizen?

Well To stay sane I'm going to ignore some people (not something I want to do) and hope reasoned criticism will keep me informed and I'll continue to lurk and tend my bottom from the spanking the mods gave it. ;)

Ok, final chance.

Keep on topic, don't make personal comments about other forum members and stay civil.

If you can't post a constructive comment, don't post at all.

If any posts are created that are off topic etc infractions and holidays from the forum will be issued.

Thanks.

Those huge trusts are blocking the view. Why, oh why!!

Gunner's perspective is cool though.

For a game that is all about the graphics, I have never understood why CIG are so insistent in giving the players horrible views from the cockpit. At least those truss are not in the middle of your screen like the old Freelancer ones were.

What are trusts - do we mean struts and hence a con-struct-ive conversation? I am not sure its the struts that are the problem as much as the proportions of the glass. I would want a much larger piece of glass in front of me. Its clearly not a problem having large side windows so move the struts out and give me more visibility in front.

It is hardcore military SC design. AFAIK Civilian ships have nice bubble canopies, just like actual jets.
Diversity

Ah, military jets also have bubble canopies.

Speaking of which, seems like the next patch still has not addressed the Sledge problem, nor the controller imbalance.

Well, in other news, CIG has drastically reduced the REC earning in AC, made limited time ships only available to subscribers (for now) and in the same move are giving subscribers huge REC payouts.

I mean at this point they are not even trying to not make it look like a huge pay2win thing or let alone punish backers for not being subscribers too :V
Not planing to get involved in this thread but can you link to a source with that information?

Seems like I was right, FPS weapons and armor will most likely be in the VD store/AE

"REC can be used in Arena Commander AND Star Marine."

This is fairly raw, but it's great that mutlicrew ships are starting to become a thing:

At least they tried to address the Sledge problem... I think that they have to redesign the Sledges from ground up. It's just too small.

I'm not too concerned about restricted/blocked FOV in a bomber...

Edit: Wake up auto-merge!

So its not just me? auto-merge does not seem to work anymore.

The sledge should be at least a size 2, and that is not even addressing the problem of a point in shoot FPS style gameplay with weapons with that much alpha. Its been a problem in AC for some time even before the Sledges.

Good video on how to balance a game. Sadly CIG is not doing it very well.
