Speaking of SC. I personally don't think its ok for CIG to split up the SQ42 story arc and then sell it in peaces. I understand that its getting larger and larger and all, but when you purchase a game, you expect to get the full story, now you are only going to get 1/3 of it (or 2/3 depend on when you backed, for instance I will get 2/3). Imagine if you purchase BioShock and told it would have this amazing story and such, but then the company says oh nvm we are going to turn it into 3 games and you are going to have to purchase the others. It just rubs me the wrong way, the idea that you are now forcing people to pay more in order to finish the story that was originally sold. But it will really come down to how much of a completed game each part feels, and how well CIG are able to split the over riding story into 3 smaller stories, along with how fulfilling each part feels. This is strictly speaking from the side of purchasing a story more so than how much gameplay would be contained. Even if each part was 20 hour of content, and as strictly from a gameplay perspective was well worth the money, i don't think its ok to force people to spend more to get what they were originally promised (story wise).
After the initial release of SQ42, if CIG release more content for it then that's great and they should charge for it. After all they should be payed for their work. But this is the case book example of a Dev removing content from a game in order to sell it as an expansion pack.
I disagree here. I don't think that they are making the stories smaller... Apparently they are bigger than originally announced in the Stretch Goals.... First episode was originally promised with 50 and now is coming with 70 missions... They are not splitting an original story, but expanded the original story and added two more big interactions of that to come... but I rather would prefer to have a 50 mission earlier than 500 much later, as its happening...
About asking DLC's I would not consider an absurd if they asked ONLY for that, but that and the continuous begging for money by selling expensive JPEG's, and after acquired 4 times the budged to make the entire game (both SP and mmo part) it's kind of reveal itself as more greedy than everyone in the game industry (well... that was pretty clear already, but that is just one more to the list), after bad mouthed the game industry originally, call them greedy and playing the saint, as Roberts did.
I mean... we have to have some insight here... One thing is to ask money for DLC's when you don't have any other kind of income or savings... Another is having 4 times beyond the budget, continuously selling expensive ships with no drop in the whales demand, and yet to ask more money for DLC's. Greedy. More than anyone else in the history of the game industry, at the same time that delivering less results than anyone too, after almost 4 years of development.
