Patch Notes Update Server side update at 11am - 21/04/15

Hi everyone,

The server update will go live this morning at 11 am. It has the following changes and a known issue.

- Prevent being fined by the same authority more than once for carrying illegal goods near a station
- Cap all bounties to 1 million credits per minor faction
- Set all current bounties above 1 million credits to 1 million credits

Known issue:

When destroying another Commander's ship, the initial notification of any bounty awarded will incorrectly state the value if the bounty has been limited to 1 million credits. The correct value will be shown in the Transactions cockpit interface and when redeeming the bounty.

Does the definition of "same authority" include the same player? This is how the bounties are being generated not by the npcs.

It's the authority (minor faction) that issues the fines/bounties not the player scan.

Michael

So scanning a player with illegal cargo (both scanners simultaneously) to generate a fine and then the player with the illegal cargo exits to main menu and then rejoins and gets scanned again will no longer generate multiple fines?

Feel free to delete this post if it needs it.

How about small and poor factions having a lower bounty cap? Anything that helps distinguish factions a bit more is a good thing.

>- Cap all bounties to 1 million credits per minor faction

Will we still able to get multimillion bounties in federation/alliance/empire? I mean, sure bounty farming is bad, but for legit pirates out there high bounties matter, and for bounty hunters this is even more true.

Is it safe to assume that this change will be revisited when the criminality changes mentioned by Sandro are implemented? IMHO the criminality system he described is spot-on and the non expiring fine will address exploits pretty well.

I understand the need to limit bounties being exploited at this time, but I would like to big bounties return in the future, both as an incentive for bounty hunters as well as a deterrent for mindless criminals.

In my world, a 1 million dollar bounty is pretty big. No need to revert this change, even after the criminally update described by Sandro is added. Unlimited multi million bounties just create to much imbalance and invites people to exploit the game mechanics whenever possible.

The bounties are issued by the minor factions so you can accrue multi-million credit bounties across multiple minor factions.

The caps are likely to stay, but we can adjust if we want to in the future.

No serious bounty hunter with a rebuy of 6mil will risk his ship for a 1mil bounty. 1 mil is chump change to a lot of players already.

Instead of capping the bounties outright, why not cap the payouts to be less than the value of the rebuy of destroyed ship, regardless of total bounty? So someone can have a 2 billion credit bounty, but they'd need to die in their Anaconda A LOT before bounty hunters cashed in on all of that. Not to mention trading bounties would be impossible as they'd lose more than their friends would gain.

But I suppose this works as a stop-gap measure.
