Many thread about mystery in deep space

Dear FD team,
as you can see, many threads has been opened for discussing a single point risen from the AMA: the mysterious DB's statement about non celestial object to be found on the galaxy.
It seems that having something to do outside civilized space, a part from scanning planets to see them in the 2D system map, is one of the most attractive activities in the game.:)
As a Elite, Frontier, FFE and ED player, I can confirm that space and mystery are an explosive cocktail for us, much more than fictional political influence tools. ;)
I opened this 3d because I would like to get more details (e.g. by opening many specific, long and exiting mission trees via Galnet) from FD team, in order to avoid to travel the whole galaxy for months before discovering that the mysterious object is the Voyager probe @ 2M ls from Earth.

Thank you and Bye.

You won't get it. And nor should you. :D

There are hundreds of explorers out there already trawling the galaxy. We still may not find anything for months (or even years). Last night I spotted a planet that looked like it had lights on it (16kLy out from inhabited space). Unfortunately it turned out to be a standard metal rich world. Ah well.

Don't worry I am sure the only additional details we'd get would be

;-)

You can be sure they'll never tell us :)
Either some explorer will find it, or FD will make it find us... :D

There are also several 3ds about people afraid from the raising of PVP - kill without reason - events. I think that this is a real issue in the game that will be enanched witi Power Play. ED will attracts less people if the game will not make an hard turn in the direction of space and mystery

We are lacking neither space nor mystery.

How much better will it be when someone finds something without needing a trail of bread crumbs

Yes quite so.

My first instinct when I saw that wink yesterday was to......a dark place comes to mind......nevermind.

Fact is that with all the explorers out there, if it was to be found it would have been already. To wink at us saying it's out there is in pretty poor taste as far as I am concerned. I have now supercruised for 35 000LY, only skipping approximately 10% of all celestial bodies.

Found nothing.

If that's the hit-and-miss rate then it's just not worth mentioning in the first place. It is probably one of those things that should have been attended to but was not, waiting for a ninja-server-edit. Either that or it's in deep-space mining.

Um, what? Have you checked out how big the galaxy is?! :) Nothing poor taste about saying something is out there.

What are you wanting, we have been told there are things to find, that is proof enough isn't it?

No, it is not enough. Too many promises was not attended and the ED's answer to this topic question is too elusive.
Saying "no, there is nothing" were be an admission of lack of contents
Saying nothing where be probably worst because the question was one of the most intriguing at all in the AMA
Saying "we are working on it" probably would be better but it should be followed by a timeline or some
Saying "yes, something" is an elegant way to close the topic... With 400*10^9 systems there could be an entire civilized space out there, players will take ages to find it, without any kind of interaction like today.

That is entirely subjective. It is enough for me. :) And I'm afraid I don't agree with the rest of your statement either, but then I'm generally optimistic.
probably you are a PVP fan...

This is not the real Milky Way where is the nature to give the rules, this is a game where is the FD team to mandate all.
We will never find nothing exploring the galaxy if FD doesn't put nothing in it

That's an amazing leap of logic considering nothing we've discussed so far in this thread has anything to do with PvP... I am fanatical about nothing. I am pedantic about many things. I'm obstinate about many more. And I know what I like. Does that help you classify me?

Hey guy.... do you know the means of "probably"?

Yes, but what's the use if the probability of finding it is 0%

This is a game and things that are capable of being found should be found with a statistical probability greater than 0. Things are not lying around there waiting to be discovered. Things are spawned, or, not, the moment you spawn an instance. Until then, there is nothing. It's not as if it is out there waiting to be discovered. It's waiting for the Devs to code a better-than-zero probability of things actually being found.

In all honesty, relying on the argument that the 'universe is so big that nobody has found anything' is nonsensical at best, especially insofar as Elite ias concerned, which is struggling to get out of the shallow end of the pool to start with. It needs all the help it can get at this stage and winks are not helping it's cause any.

But you just said you don't believe them when they hint they have put something in to find, unless they spell it out, but spelling it out would ruin it.

The comment included "it has been in since 1.2"

Ok, so you don't believe there is anything there? If there was anything there, you'd expect it to be discovered immediately? We already know the mechanic is there for things to be found (Voyager, for example). Why would you disbelieve that there is anything else (though if you want to, that is of course entirely your choice :) ). And stuff in deep space is likely to be aimed at explorers, so in my view (this is of course subjective) is likely to be fairly benign. Explorers are happy discovering planets that we know are procedurally generated, we're generally quite easy to please (from my point of view, and the posts I've seen from others).

slashgoh, I know what probably means, yes. It still doesn't explain strange statements that have no connection to the previous conversation.

Exactly, What I would like is a prove that there is really something and that it is not a kind of joke reliing on the near to 0 chace to find what DB thought.
In other words... ED is a game, not a religion. I'm not required to have faith on FD team, I have to get concrete answers about game specs. And this is what I'm questionig
