[REQUEST] Headlight "on" indicator

I have this function (an indicator LED turns on when the headlights are on) via the Thrustmaster TARGET software. Both the warthog HOTAS and the (much cheaper) MFDs include programmable indicator LEDs.

(Using the same method, I also have indicator LEDs for landing gear, silent running, fire 1, fire 2, etc.)

Not useful for users of Oculus Rift though, because the indicators are physical LEDs out in the real world, so there is still a need to have them in the instrumentation. :-/

Yes we do, after docking and going to grab some beers we come back to a flat battery which isnt popular with the station personnel who want the landing bay space.
Indeed, and besides it would be cool to have a more complete cockpit.

Funny wish in OP....
I mean the headlights are useless anyway, might as well use a candle, they dont draw power, so why all the fuss ?
The dev's should focus on stuff tha have some impact.

Cheers Cmdr's

Headlights are a useless feature. It is up to the pilot to make sure he is flying in an area with enough light to complete his mission. /s

No, headlights are useful. Most of the time you don't need them, but there are quite a few situations that would become frustrating without them. Frustrating isn't fun, and games should be fun. They also look great.

Just yesterday I took a pic of me engaging in some illegal salvage, I think the headlights are great :)

"ding! ding! ding! Your headlights are.. on. Your headlights are.. on. Your headlights are.. on. Your door is.. ajar. Your door is.. ajar."

I vote "yes" on the headlight indicator.

My car has automatic headlights, though. They just sense when to turn on and off. I guess in the Second Dark Age (the one triggered when we elect Justin Bieber World President), we forget that technology.

When the speedo flips upside down it indicates you're flying in reverse, assuming that's what you meant.
For the headlights issue, turn your speakers up or change your audio settings to night mode. The headlights make different noises when they turn on or off.

I'm usually very good at keeping track of when my lights are on or off but sometimes I forget and it's annoying turning them on and off to listen to the whine, especially when you might be hurtling towards an asteroid in the dark. When you're manuevering in combat you sometimes end up going forward for a while when you are reverse thrusting so the speed indicator doesn't always show you're in reverse thrust mode. If you're trying to spin and catch someone those seconds count, instead I'm trying to figure out if I'm still reverse thrusting because I've lost track while pressing all those buttons on the stick in combat. All of which would be easily resolved with an indicator. :)

Maybe it could work a little like your car, when your lights are on the dash becomes brighter, although a simply light indicator would be good.

I end up just turning them on/off to hear the sound to know if they are on sometimes.

You should already have one, I think default is L. If not check your control options.

:D
You are of course correct.
I was kind of out of it when I posted that and got confused on multiple levels *headdesk*
First of all, I was thinking of another game where you have the ability to turn on red/green blinky orientation lights, and I was thinking of the wing beacon toggle which has nothing to do with lights.
