Alien Artifacts and permit

Michael just said we should listen to the artifacts.
I believe you will hear a morse code stating a system. If you bring the artifact to that system: thargoids.

Most interesting. I think I might chuck a Cobra build together and go check it out tonight (I figure a trip of that length would be insanely infuriating in a Vulture...).

Sounds like a job for my very long pokey stick ! Think I will pop over this evening and have a poke around and see what I can disturb. Hard hat and goggles me thinks :O)

Hmm...Hauler might be a better idea. I'm guessing there's going to be a bit of pew-pew at the end of this little quest (should any of us make it and poke the nest), so I'm hoping there's a high-tech system around where I can outfit another Vulture if need be.

Has anyone considered that there might be another reason for the quarantine? I mean...if it was a plague, they'd be wanting medicine. If, on the other hand, it was a Xenomorph-style alien infestation...that would justify all of the measures and needed goods.

EDIT: I would imagine that Thargoids - given their apparent insectoid appearance - might not actually be too far removed from Xenomorphs, either. Do you suppose that's the kind of thing that Braben and Bell had in mind when they first wrote Elite '84?

It does say 'the moon'. So as long as we avoid the moon we should be ok. It's probably just flavour text but I won't test it. :D I don't want to go hostile or even be wanted. I dunno if you can lose a permit in this game.

That earth-like world is the moon of the second planet, the only moon in system IIRC (not in-game at the moment so can't check) and was definitely the object referred to in the system description.

I went there specifically to see whether I'd be designated a plague ship, but nothing happened. I expected to become wanted everywhere.

Yes, that's right. I am doing the missions now to get the permit. I fell asleep last night so failed quite a few missions. I need to do a few more.

I can't remember what I said there.

I don't think it's Thargoids we are looking for.
I think we will meet them but they will assist us with missions. Then we find a new alien race :D
I have reasons to believe this but like everything atm, who knows. We need to eliminate all possiblities.
Why do I think this?
In Elite FFE there was an Empire mission to HELP the Thargoids. The Thargoids needed a vaccine because of an infection. When completing this mission the Thargoids gave us a Thargoid Ship. :cool:
I found this system by searching lore and previous Elite missions and then I saw plague and alien artefacts so it made sense to check this place out.
Also, take for example when the Spanish invaded America. Most indeginous people died from common cold and pox before they even saw a Spanish Conquistador.
So I wonder if there is something about this plague, alien artefacts, permit, missing Thargoids etc.

I wish I had some artefacts to sell or hand in. I bet I don't find any for ages now. :D
