FNS Damocles Battlecruiser....WOW

In space its all about a ship's TWR (Thrust to Weight Ratio), there's no drag to get in the way, not on any noticeable level anyway. Sure large warships are heavy, but they also have large propulsion units to counteract their mass, which should result in decent rates of acceleration for warships.
TWR isn't the only thing, structural integrity needs to be considered too.

Awesome acceleration doesn't help much if the ship breaks apart because of it. :)

Their just doing their part to rid the universe of the Sci-Fi stereotype that states fighters dominate space battles. :D

After I read the Lost Fleet series, I can never get the common Sci-Fi idea that warships in space are "Slow", you have to be going several km/s to orbit most celestial objects anyway so there's not really any such thing as "slow" in space.

Right you are! Kind of. Large ships are still subject to structural integrity concerns, so accelerating and maneuvering too hard can cause damage, even if it's capable of doing it (and it would be). Therefore, caution and gentle acceleration would be undertaken except for emergencies.

Biowaste.

As mentioned, I'm referring to griefers/very aggressive whiners. The former drives a lot of interesting people into Solo, robbing Open players of the chance to encounter those people. The latter intentionally derails and destroys discussion about anything they don't want discussed, frequently by becoming so hostile by themselves a moderator considers the entire thread a lost cause and locks it. Locked threads constitute a victory condition for those people. Same mindset for both of them, just different avenues of expression.

A small, vocal minority doing lots of damage.

Back on topic... The first Majestic I saw actually turned me off from the Empire. The second one made me a fanatic. They're an acquired taste.

On the former count, well put.

On the latter, I agree
Though in my case, the first was a screenshot. The second I got to do a nice "inspection tour" a la Star Trek:TMP. Seeing it from all angles really helps.

Yeah that too, as well as fuel usage among other factors. But I think by the time we can colonize multiple worlds, we may also have discovered very strong materials to allow such large vessels to exist, as well as improvements to our understanding of making structures lighter without sacrificing strength.

For propulsion systems, its possible that we can invent drives that are both more powerful and more fuel efficient than chemical based rockets.

I did also point out earlier that I was concerned about the Battlecruiser's fore structural integrity in terms of battle damage, but this would also apply to being able to sustain decent accelerations.

The Lost Fleet's solution would not work in the Elite lore as there is no artificial gravity fields from what I've read, which also rules out the possibility of inertial dampeners to negate large levels of G force.

If worse comes to worse, there's always the Kerbal solution of add more struts untill it stops exploding! :D

My Clipper has something like 74 million newtons of tractive force so there's no question that materials are stronger and thruster tech is way ahead of ours, but the capitals are probably pushing the envelope.

ok, how does the tiring work? There's 2 conflict zones - high and low.
Neither of which imo has had enough claimable bonds to move the tier up from 1.95bln to 2.1bln in 2 hours - no way at all.

Can it leave please - there's nothing to shoot in any zone now. Only 1 person gets the bounties - waste of time imo.

I sat in that conflict zone for a good 3 hours last night, only made about 200k of bonds. That BC owned everything in its path and left me with next to no kills.

don't understand how the global progress keeps rising so rapidly - 2.2bln now!!!

just gone up 2.7 mln in 20 seconds and there's no fighting at all in low conflict

Gone up 7m in 4 mins - lol

edit - 11m in 5 mins.

Can see the story line of some dodgey bribed progress monitor....best call the UN
