I'm in Lave now. I've dropped at a few SSS, there are a few convoys with T9 system security vessels. Not been carrying anything interesting so far. Did find a convoy with one of those new commodities while I was over at HIP 18609.

I'll keep checking out SSS.

If this is the case then it may well tie-in with the Reorte-Riedquat line and the Formidine Rift. A lead I was initially alluding to in my very first post in this thread, and one that is indeed linked to the books It makes sense with what's coming.

Seems things have come full circle :)
The closer you get to the meaning, the sooner you know that you're dreaming?

Think the SSS I found on the way out from that line was relevant? Too far? Too close/random? (was further out than the Pleiades)

Just a question, is this it or something else?

Future question/bug question. I found a type-9 with antiquities in it guarded by two anacondas. I killed the anacondas disabled the drive on the type 9, shot out the cargo hold and it dropped 1 ton of it's cargo. It wasn't even the 1 antiquity it was carrying.

Why did it not drop more than that single ton? It was carrying around 20 tons of items. If this happens in the future when someone finds a transport with a UA how will we ever get it?

YES, different artifact. Would be nice if you could check if they also emit a signal. (We've heard that black boxes and ancients do.)

Please do not be this guy! He is ghastly afraid of us and any mention of the word "Goon" will trigger him!

"Afraid of us"? All five of you left in the Elite? ;). Last time the goons have allied the cowardly federal ADK group and we still kicked your bottom. So much for "fear" :p.

Ok, now im trolling and its not a place for that.

The thing is, that thread is about community working together to solve the riddle devs have given US. Really, i dont expect you guys to understand... Join it, or leave it.

RNG Bingo!

Away from all the trolling an speculating. Who's willing to wing up to see what SSS have to offer? If artifact related or not.

I started doing the SSS solo, getting bored waiting for the RNG to spawn one. Scan some ships then start taking out NPCs for bounties, followed by running away like a scared kitten when they all turn on me.

The chances are that the RNG is set to only spawn a couple per month in the entire game. How many million SSes have been checked since 1.2 launched? Or is it billions?

I'm done with this horrendous RNG Bingo. I'm off to do something in this game that is interesting instead. If I happen upon a UA I will destroy it with beam lasers. 250k Credits is peanuts and if it unlocks some great mystery then tough, it'll have to wait.

You don't know, you are assuming, interpreting, and extrapolating. Anyway, this thread is starting to get bogged down, Arcanonn, I'm wondering if it should have just stayed in the Explorers forum. Good luck everyone, I'll check back tomorrow. Probably.

We'll see when they turn up. You actually seem petrified I might be right. Cya man.

Nice score but we're looking for Unkown Artifacts. I'm curious did you listen to the canister before picking it up?

When I was 3 anacondas on my own, no chance too.

Just scoop and run.

I jettisoned and and listened. = no sounds. ( then i rammed it and destroyed it by mistake) ** :(

Ok, I am going to post with a bit of logic, and on the assumption that FD actually know what they're doing with this whole UA thing. If they don't know what they're doing, then this whole thread, all the clues that have been given by DB and MB have been totally pointless, and has lead everyone on a wild goose chase. All future points will be made on the assumption that FD know what they are doing, and have thought about the implementation of this UA. I am going to ignore all anecdotal evidence and hearsay, because we have no reliable or tangible way to prove it or otherwise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's start with who FD would like to implement this for. Is it going to be: A) only people who have read the official books, and know the lore about the game. B) only people who have read the 1.2 patch notes. C) everyone in game, regardless of their knowledge of the lore, or the patch notes.

I hope you said 'C', as that is what would make most sense from a design perspective. So we can automatically, and logically discount anything from 'A' and 'B', that don't have 'C' in common. With me? Good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. So if they want this to be accessible for everyone in the game, and we assume they want it to be found, how can they let the player base know about it, without handing it to them on a plate? A) Hope the player base run into it randomly, in a playable area that is at least 400 billion separate instances. B) Give only Vague comments on the forum, and hope the entire player base reads it. C) Give them a clue in game, that everyone has a chance to see.

I hope you said 'C'. So how would they give a clue in game, that everyone has a chance to see, thus reaching and fulfilling the last design decision? I guess that it would be GalNet, just how they spread news and clues about how other things in the game are shaping up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now we're really getting somewhere. So what clues have been released in GalNet post 1.2 implementation, that involve things that could be to do with an unknown artefact? I know of only one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=30574

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So what can we glean from that article?
1. Shipments of unusual cargo have been passing through the old world systems (a region).
2. The rumours of the contents are mixed, thus suggesting random (and rare).

~The we get to the meat~

3. Be on the lookout for suspicious activity. Where do we know suspicious activity takes place in systems? (signal sources)
4. But avoid any unknown wings. So we are to avoid them (implying danger) and they are wings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So going by that evidence (and combining both 3 & 4 into something tangible), what signal sources contain both danger and wings?

Choccy came out and said what he thinks and has used logic.
I +1'd him for answering.

Plus we know an UA has been spotted in a SSS. Player just don't remember where and another single player has said he got one too but don't remember where.
Thing is, I never touched those SSS, with a viper/cobra there was no way I was going limpet and scoop cargo all alone.
There must be another source too.
I don't think they would exclude it from Solo players. They have to be considered too when implementing game design.
Thus a much better RNG chance in SSS I'd say.

Personally and just an assumption really, I think all 3 factions are having a special 'ingredient' shipped in, in order to build some new tech.
There must be a route from them if we trace it backwards.

Unfortunately, shooting the cargo hatch is not a certain method. That way, ships will drop some of their cargo, but rarely all. If you want to make certain, you should use hatch breaker limpets. You might need more than one to empty their entire hold, but eventually, they will.

well that's frustrating....

Okay. Now i am officially curious. I just jumped out into the System PW2010 94 (which is close to the Omega Nebula ) around 5500 LYs away from Sol and encountered a WSS. I jumped into it and found Rebel Transmisions. Well i guess this proofs that there CAN be Signal Sources outside of Colonized Space.

I am still a bit baffled. I thought this is not possible. :) As i flew in closer i found what looks like a Wreck of a Type 6, Type 7 or Type 9. Not sure there.

There most definitely are signal sources beyond the frontier of colonised space. It's probably others who have tried to venture out into the great black, for whatever reason (explorer, fugitive, miner, etc.) and failed to return in one piece. ;)
