Since we have more than one. Has someone tried shooting one?
Well we're not sure if we can duplicate the glitch so... we're still a bit scared to try.

Whoa now, Listen to the thing, don't shoot it!
Also worth noting if so: musical notes are around the 3-500s or so in Hz, so those could translate to coordinates...Does it make any pattern if you go by musical pitch notation instead? (D, F and all them other ones)

I definitely recall seeing a screenshot either here or on Reddit about an NPC convoy talking about "spooky things" happening on board since they scooped some weird cargo thing.
Can anyone dig that out?
I found it. Some guy posted this ages ago:

Just to make life easier for all the audio engineers...here's an mp3 extracted from my video:

Knock yourselves out, gents![]()
With it on board, look at the galmap for any icons?
Awesome job chaps - just sat and read this thread for half an hour to catch up!
Just in terms of cleaning up the audio - there is a lot of 'idle' noise in ships.
Just a suggestion, but what we now need to do is:
Drop to a 'quiet' location in space.
Record ambient audio with no canister present.
Drop the canister, record the audio of it.
Compare and subtract the ambient audio from the canister audio.
This will give us a 'clean' track to play with and listen to.
We finally found one! I wasn't able to join in the hunt sadly, but I've been following this thread all week.
Just something I've noticed: The whale sound repeats every 30s, and there are about 5 to 7 "growling" sounds in that time. Maybe the whale sounds are spaces and the growling decodes to something?
Probably way off the mark but its interesting.
did that... now im going to go near a sun and see if the heat does anything.
