You might have to do a jump to get into open mode. I know you have to do it sometimes, not sure when, you can check by going to the menu, it will still say solo

Open vs Solo - Cooldown timer

Greetings Commanders.
Today we have two mode in ED.
Solo - really safe mode , in which you can trade on Lakon T9 with shields A3 and is not worried about anything. Weak pirates and no danger. In addition, an open mode , which is full of bored griefers who amassed in solo and got FDL.
And why, when you interdict this griefer he presses AlT + F4 and it has no problems?

I think the cooldown should not be less than two minutes , if you pressed the ALT-F4 , and this time a ship has to remain in space and the player should not be able to go in a different game mode. If you're trying to get out of the fight - it is also waiting - 2 minutes, rather than 15 seconds , as it is now.

P.S. Those who said that "...as if the Internet disappeared during the battle i lose my ship? " - yes, sorry guys , but you 're out of luck.
P.P.S. I think Frontier should do a solo mode is more dangerous too, but in this case the players on the T9 should enable hiring npc, but this is not available now.

+1.
But I think that three minutes will be better.

Might as well give my opinion on this too, not that it matters..
While in solo or some private groups, there's no hostile players to kill you. But in solo, you also have to do everything alone.
There will be no wingman to save you. Especially in combat zones, I've noticed that even one wingman makes a huge difference (if he's decent). Fighting Anacondas in smaller crafts alone is not easy, while in open or group you can do this easily with a wingman.
So the point is, there should be no penalties for swapping modes or playing one mode all the time. All of them have their advantages. No changes needed.

Solo?... How Boring.

This game is amazing online, where you can find real cmdrs, where you can make friends, where you can find danger (pirates, cold blood killers), I mean, I think that this game in solo is really boring, no fear, no challenge at all. Also, there is no need to play solo, just go to a far system and I assure you, you will be alone most of the time, but with that constant fear that someone will show sooner or later.

Also, the AI kinda sucks, so, its a sad feeling to live in that huge galaxy alone with those stupid Al controlled ships.

Welcome to the desert of the real, Neo :) I agree, but I think ultimately the amount of commanders playing in open mode will increase. It's a bit like going to a karate class where they only do 'non contact' sparring. Sooner or later you wanna put it to the test! (or not :) )
The only times I am tempted with Solo are from a money making perspective. At the moment I am finding that bounty hunting at RES spots makes me the most money, but boy oh boy do I find this boring. And if half an hour before bed and after a hard days work (when I finally give the family the slip and get in front of my laptop), I navigate to a RES spot to find a couple of commanders already there, elbowing each other out of the way (bearing in mind the randomness of getting good bounty ships turn up), I become sourly tempted to just save and switch to Solo. Although I have only done this a couple of times (because I like to support the multiplayer environment) the way I see it, if a game allows you to do something, then it's a rule, not an exploit.

The difference lies in the fact that you can find a cmdr in open, and that guy could be a bored killer, or a new friend.

Solo is boring for me, but there are days I want to be alone, so I just simply go to a far system, there is no need to swich to solo for that because its fun when you are in a low populated anarchy system and you meet a cmdr, I dont care if he is a player killer with no reason (I call them cold blood killers, killing just for the fun) or a friendly trader, or a pirate in roleplay mode, meeting real humans in this game is fun for me and sometimes a wellcome challenge.

I only play in open myself, I wish there was a bonus for playing in open heh MOAR CREDITS PLZ

you know like an incentive to trading and such to encourage people that are afraid of it to play in open

I honestly doubt people are 'afraid' to play open. They just don't want to. I mean, it's only a game, and if you get destroyed you just rebuy your ship, nothing to be afraid of, it's just frustrating. And people do get destroyed in solo mode, whether through their own errors, or even by NPC's. As to incentives, there's not really any need, I doubt it would encourage people who don't want to play with other people to do so. :)

Go back, read the thread - making accusations about people being "afraid" and the like was covered - it is insulting and uncalled for.
Some people play Solo or small groups due to not having a good connection or good hardware and cannot play in open.

Your bonus for playing in open, is the "excitement" and "social" aspects of open - that is your bonus, if that is not enough of an incentive for someone - nothing will be, so no point adding more.

More likely he'll compete for kills and we're back to square 1. I don't want to have to move shop every time a CMDR pops up. And I neither want to be a kill stealer, or want my kills be stolen. There are days I do not want to meet other CMDRs. So far I have made 3 systems my home systems. Rather quiet nice RES sites. Lasts for about a week until there are 4 or 5 CMDRs all fighting for the same kill. Then I move on. I grow tired of moving on. I found a RES with a lovely backdrop to fight in. Usually there's about 4 other CMDRs doing the same thing, so I go solo.

It doesn't help much I prefer fixed over gimballed. So I miss a lot. Which means I don't get many kills since everyone is gimballing it up.

"I cant compete with others, or... I want to farm everything for me alone, lets push this button and I will be alone in the galaxy just killing rabbits and safe-trucking"

Solo and private have to go eventually, those modes are splitting the community.

whatever I wasn't insulting anyone, but I guess I touched a nerve, sorry dude

but seriously I think it would be good to offer a bonus to open play, it may be enough of a bonus maybe you can tell me why it wouldn't, without just saying it wouldn't like its obvious

I think an incentive to play in open play would see more people playing it, because duh you get a bonus

Well, as Solo people are happy, Private Groups are happy - it's the Open players being the problem - so by your logic, we should just remove Open and make Solo the default.

Not insulting!? Do you read what you write? Do you understand the words you use?

"encourage people that are afraid of it"

afraid adjective (FEAR)

A2 [after verb] feeling fear, or feeling worry about the possible results of a particular situation:
He was/felt suddenly afraid.
I've always been afraid of flying/heights/spiders.
She was afraid for her children (= feared that they might be hurt).
[+ to infinitive] Don't be afraid to say what you think.[+ (that)]
She was afraid (that) he might be upset if she told him.

You made the accusation that people are scared to play the game how you play, without any regard that they may want to play their way, not your way... kind of the tag line for that game if I recall.
So why not drop the pretense, drop the arrogance and just admit you don't want others to enjoy this game how they choose and should just be your personal entertainment - as that's what you're asking for.

I don't think its a question of being afraid to play in the all group. its that there are players who don't enjoy killing other players and these players would like to be treated the same way that they show respect to other players, its a simple matter of play style.
there are 3 types of players in this game

  • those that prefer to play the game in a cooperative style
  • those that prefer to play the game in a competitive style
  • those that play the game for the lulz!

if the lulz! player didn't exist then solo/groups would really need to exist, but as this type of player does exist then thanks to them you are always going to have solo/group players.
