This game is seems to be seriously flawed

Yes...I agree. It must have been the "Ghost ship" phenomenon. It's the only thing that makes any sense. Also I think he must have pulled the plug before I even fired because I didn't get a wanted status. I would have gotten a wanted status if I actually hit his ship, right?

Correct. BTW I dont know if you tried to pirate him, but shooting someone just because he doesnt want to interact with you is not a nice thing to do.

I have turned up at a station & seen a wingman slowly barrel rolling about 1K from the station... he was actually docked at the time, just not in the station in my instance.

The other morning (Monday?) when the servers seemed really sluggish, I was at a Coriolis station and there were three CMDRs all docked, but floating in space offset from their actual position. The one inside the station was the best. He was static relative to space, so looked as though he was moving in a perfect circle inside it.

I hung around for about 10 minutes and took a few screengrabs for posterity. They seemed real enough, but I suppose they could have all docked and left the game, but got missed by the server issues. No-one moved in 10 minutes, and no new CMDRs came into the instance. I forgot to try chatting. Really, really strange.

not greeting isnt either! ^^

They might have been playing with an Oculus Rift on, unless you can touch type, replying is actually quite difficult. Also remember ED has a worldwide player base, there's no guarantee the player in question can even read English.

Something doesn't feel right in this post
.
If a player is in god mode why the hell choose a type 7?
.
If I am flying a type 7 I am doing one thing - trading- I wouldn't stand and fight in a crate with an engine attached Id be off like a rocket and boosting back out - I certainly wouldn't be sitting around for 5 mins
.
Hacker - Not likely
Bug - Possible
Made up - potentially

Ehhh... an unambitious hacker ?

Cheers Cmdr's

Wild theories aside, it may well have been a desync. The shaky p2p netcode in this game is very prone to them, and frequently they're not deliberate- it's mostly due to things basking in liquid fail.

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

Expecting to be greeted from random strangers is a weird premise to begin with. Translate it into something like this and it seems an entire useless and somewhat silly exercise:
A: "Let me verbally confirm my registering your existence. I also imply that you must react in kind or be regarded with disdain."
B: "Thank you for registering my existence. I also registered your existence, a fact which I hereby communicate with the same method."

Welcome to open, OP. It is rare, but these glitches can happen. There's a lot of reasons why and it's impossible to work around every opportunity for a problem. He didn't combat log (I've no respect for anybody who combat logs, no matter the reason), so it sounds like an innocent glitch. Now you've got a nice ship hang around in open, but be warned ... PvP is a lot harder than fighting NPCs, no matter how good your ship is :)

whenever i greet someone on the street and he doesnt greet back, he seriously will regret it!

So I have been playing mostly solo for several months until I acquired a Python and got it tricked out. Then I play in Open, and after trying to communicate with a certain cmdr in a type 7 who refused to acknowledge me on multiple occasions, I finally attacked him to try to get a response. After pouring everything I had into him for five minutes, there was absolutely no effect. How is that possible? I was hitting him with C3 cannons and pulse lasers almost continuously for the whole time, and the outer ring of his shields never even dimmed. ? Is he flying in GOD mode? Is the type 7 invincible or what?

He didnt reply so you shot him. Im glad you failed miserably

Did this happen at a station?
If you go afk or even the moment you land sometimes you go flying out in a big circle around the station or sit out in front of it. I haven't been impatient or curious enough to shoot someone in this state but it would make sense that you couldn't harm them, since they're technically not there.

whilst i do try to respond to any and all CMDRs it is easily missed if you are playing in the rift, it is also a pita to type.

either way, there is no law that says you need to be chatty when gaming, and keeping yourself to yourself should not be a sensible reason to be attacked. That being said, it sounds like something odd was afoot!.

Yes it was just outside a station. This apparently is what developers call a Hiesenbug...and a first rate quantum-superpositional Hiesenbug, at that. When you observe it (or shoot it), it ain't there!

this is true . i saw this two times . last time it was wanted cmdr in python doing some strange circles around station and he didn t take any damage from my attacks . i thought he was hacking . btw he didn t reply to my calls also . other than that i can assure you that pvp in this game works just fine ( if we ignore combat loging ) as i killed hundreds players and got killed lots of times .

Did the OP get a fine for shooting the ship? If it wasn't a bug they should have done.

Why should anyone respond to a complete stranger if they don't want to?

On top if that the msg may not have got through or the Cmdr may not have noticed the incoming msg sound.

lol yeah pretty much but I prefer Schrodinger's Lakon
has a nice ring to it.
plus rep for the nerding that just happened all over the place.

This is why Solo and Open shouldn't be interchangeable.

"I traded my way up to a Python in complete safety, and now I'm going off to pirate traders in Open".

It's the reason I switched to Solo/Group only

No, I'm always trading in open, and I welcome any new player who joins open, even if he's going to try to pirate me. Open can't have enough players in it... the ability to switch from solo to open once someone feels confident enough in his skills and equipment is a good thing.

Sidenote: Most of those players will die trying anyway, because they have no PvP experience.
