Newcomer / Intro About that war in QUIVIRA...

I upped my asp to fighting standard, smacked a few NPCs around, then had someone logout as I was just beating him yesterday.

Today I ventured in.... and got massacred relatively quickly. Exploring, again :). The Asp is not a good ship to go into combat with.... it's too expensive.

Note I didn't log out.

There is no fighting standard Asp when humans are involved. The power plant is really exposed, and any CMDR worth their salt will target it immediately.

well well well! Perhaps this was worth my time!

I scored around 4 mil in kills, and 6 mil in bonus!

Nice and now you've got the vulture... hopr it suits you like a glove and that you will soon earn the combat rank of Dangerous like me ;)

anyway as you know I scored about 6-7 mio in combat bond + the 10 mio in bonus and now we've both have jump sides and started killing for the Empire now that the other CG has been completed... we still have 5 more days to complete that goal too... :D
Btw. I'm in top 15% now so maybe I can improve on that tonight....

yeah I'll second that statement.... Asp's have a very weak spot when it comes to their powerplant... even Deadly Npc Asp's are quicker to kill than you average Cobra og Viper imo....

Yup - working for the Empire as well now... Although , they DID kill Padmé Amidala so not really sure how I feel about this... Then again... credits... CREDITS!!! :p

-- EDIT: racked up around 2.5 mil thus far, placing me in the 40% bracket... This Vulture is a beast!!!

Hello All,
As many of you already concluded, reaching CG "Defending independent Quivira" in Open play (that means PvP) is not very productive.

I learned this two days ago on hard way:
- I prepared my Vulture for possible PvP destruction (downgrade armour from "mirrored" to "military", downsize FSD from A5 to D2)
- I entered CZ and waited to choose faction until I was securely close with my faction ships. I declared myself... All greens, nothing to shoot.
- Once a while red dot NPC apears, and be destroyed by so many shooters, there is no chance for me to get any bounty.
- Every 10 minutes enemy CMDR appears (Phyton or FdL), but quickly flees, as
- After 30 minutes , and measly 50k Cr I was bored and decided to have a chase on next enemy CMDR on my radar...
There he was in Clippy, one and only...He runned away, me behind, with FA-Off. No one else went for him, just me.
Suddenly I found myself surrounded by 4 un-declared CMDR-s. A few seconds later there were 5 ships firing on me, one and lonely...
In less than 20seconds I was dead. NO chance of SuperCruise, as my modules malfunctioned even with power priority lists well defined.
- 1 MCr of insurance later I rethink my strategy, and decided I was not carefull enough, so I should try it again
- Waiting in middle of CZ, all CMDRs not a single NPC. Everybody is green and just waiting in Phytons and FdL-s. Lagg is visible on ships flight paths. Im bored.
Occasionaly red dot CMDR appears, but flees away chased by 3,4 green CMDRS (in wing).
Cautiosly, I venture off the CZ centre for about 15 km. Suddenly I see a lot of red dots.
- Time to run away, as some enemy CMDRS started to fire, too many of them at single me.

After rethinking strategy again, I concluded If I want to produce combat bonds, I could do it in SOLO mode much more effective, as only NPC-s will be in my instance.
OPEN PLAY is too crowded with CMDR-s (undeclared and in wings, waiting for victims) to produce Combat Bonding effectively.

So I changd to SOLO mode, and in 8 hours of gampelay I produced 4M Cr, achieving top 40%, and that is expected with Vulture.
With FdL or Phyton it could be double, due to their weapons capacity and speed of enemy destruction.
I dont know how much better is Annaconda handling in producing Combat Bonds from those two.

This is my experience and opinion:
- CG-s are not PvP oriented gameplay, YET, of this version.
- Higher CG rewards are easier to achive with bigger combat ships.

Goodness no. It's totally not worth a long journey for local civil war CG if you're wanting to make money. Bounty Farming will net you much more per hour.

As far as the choice to support the Empire, I'd like to take this opportunity to voice my reasons for aligning with it. (sorry for the OT commentary....OK, not really sorry..but anyway...)

When I bought ED a month ago, I had no idea of the lore of the game and none of the factions meant anything at all to me. So I started reading about each to figure out if I personally identified with any of them. Roughly 60 seconds later I knew it was Empire for me. Here's why:

I'm a huge fan of freedom and small government. Please don't confuse "small government" with "weak military strength". I mean a government that doesn't try to run every facet of my life, try to be my nanny, or try to "encourage" a lifestyle with the threat of imprisonment. I'm also a very big fan of personal accountability and responsibility and not relying on my government to bail me out of financial ruin because I can't manage my finances and try to live beyond my means. (if you're wondering..I am American...shocking, I know).
This is what I perceive the Empire to be about. As far as the word "Empire" I think too many people mentally associate it with evil. Same goes for dictatorships. Dictatorships can be wonderful things if the dictator in question has the good of the people as a high priority. But as they say, power corrupts and absolute... well, you know the rest.
I know you said it sarcastically but you being American and not wanting the government bailing you out is very shocking. That is what makes America great in the eyes of the republitards who own billion dollar financial institutions gamble the money away then get a government bail out lol.

Ok personal "opinion" or fact as it's better known aside. The Empire doesn't resemble America in any way shape or form. I give you this quote from ED wiki about the Federation that sounds dead on to what America is today.

The Federation is highly dependent on technology and is economically and socially Corporatist. In the period of rebuilding after the end of World War 3 on Earth (circa 2044-2055AD) it was the corporations who became powerful and dominant. In modern times it is the corporations who are the life-blood and backbone of the Federation. It is rumoured that these corporations have such influence and power that they can even direct The Federal government. Perhaps even to the point deciding who to elect as President.

The only part about about the Empire that sounds like America is the part were they enslave you after forcing you into financial ruin.
