Thanks guys from those of us who use Steam - makes things much easier.

To all the whiners out there - if you don't have anything positive to say then don't say anything.

They have as much right to say what they want as the Steam whiners had to constantly bring up the key issue

Thank you very much Frontier for this waste of time and well another example of your ethics when the impression was given that ED would not be avail on steam

Oh man, I can't wait, I honestly can't wait for my review. The Positive reviews are going to explode on may 28th.

At least those of us with negative reviews can post there as well so people thinking about getting it on steam will be informed what kind of company they are dealing with

I'm sure people will appreciate your irrelevant "game review".

FD held off Steam for as long as was financially possible and increased their income as a result. Seems like sound business practise to me.

People without the game who want to buy it on Steam can, those who have it already can get a Steam key and anyone who couldn't care less about ED on steam isn't affected one way or the other.

There are no losers here.

What's the point of playing through steam if you didn't purchase through them?
What am I missing?
Just another app to load before playing isn't it?

Are the developers going to lose money on this?

If so, then this is just disgusting behaviour by a bunch of babies crying over nothing.

I have steam, but I add the game as non-steam game... It's not a problem... I would rather have the developers have the money to improve the game and continue it's development.

Even if it is not costing them money (Which is impossible), it is still wasting valuable development time on what can be considered the biggest pointless waste of time that I have ever had the poor misfortune of knowing.

I seriously hate this modern internet age. where huge swathes of the population are wanted for teddy bear abuse, due to the psychical harm caused to teddies being throwing out of the pram.

The square root of naff all...

Just a bunch of babies crying like three year old's, because mummy didn't by them a sweetie.

You should probably just stay off the internet then. Your anger levels may drop.
In the meantime, have a word with yourself. You are no better than those you wish to berate.

For people who manage their PC games library through steam, the app will already be loaded.
If you don't manage your games library through steam, you are missing nothing.

Pretty much, the benefits are all of an "If you use steam" variety. if you don't use steam, you're not missing anything. For those of us who do, it's usually (depending on individual preference) an app that already loads at startup on your PC, so:

Ability to post reviews, screenshots, videos, etc to the official steam group.

In-game overlay, allowing you to chat with friends through steam, access player-written guides and content, use the webbrowser, etc.

If you have to replace your OS drive, and reinstall steam, you don't need to re-download & reinstall all your games - first launch after steam reinstall will recreate registry keys.

Convenient central location for all your game launchers.

Ability to stream the game to other computers - for example, old pc linked to HD TV using the VGA card of your main gaming PC.

Can I also add ability to see friends who are playing the game without actually having to log into the game to check. That is quite a convenience for me and the main reason why I wanted a steam key.

Well, actually, it will just show who has the launcher open. They could not be running the game, or just be sat at the main menu. The only way to see who is actually playing, is go into the game yourself.

As with any non steamworks game. I don't see what your point is?

Were all aware of Steams limitations but the convenience it provides outweighs any limitations.

Because you seemed to be saying that having it on Steam enables you to see who is playing. I wasn't aware that you were aware of the limitation since it doesn't actually show you who is playing (just who might be), so sought to inform you if you were not aware.

As you now point out you are fully aware of this limitation, then its cool.
