List of largest known stars

List of largest known stars [ED]

Hello commanders,

Here is a little list I started to compile using mostly wikipedia.org and some other online sources to plan my next trip.
Haven't used it yet at all, but it may make a foundation for a nice little round trip. SIMBAD database names are not all include yet but a lot of other catalogs.

I hope I can upload a better table soon. It's all lunch break work :D

Edit: Started to mark data I was able to confirm within the game. Marked in orange. If you like to send me data like distance from sol and sol radii. I try to keep this up-to-date. Thanks cmds

I love lists :D
I have one question, at least one item is not in the milky way, what has that got to do with ED ? :)

Just an FYI: So far as I know, UY Scuti and NML Cygni are not represented in the game, and WOH G64 is in the Large Megallanic Cloud, not the Milky Way, and so couldn't be represented in-game.

Update proof, LMC in 2.7

Haven't used it with the in game galaxy map yet. Will have a closer look this weekend.

What are your parameters for the list? Is there a certain radii the star needs to be to qualify? I've been hunting supermassives by eye in the galmap during my travels. Biggest I've found was 130 solar radii though.

It's from Wikipedia's list of largest known stars. It appears the cut-off OP used was 1,000 solar radii.

It seems that the biggest in the game is canis majoris.
Other posters have reported to not find the ones in the top list in the gal map, are we sure they indeed are in the milky way?

I went to canis majoris, landing point is little above 5000Ls, and fuel scoop starts there. Tried to circumnavigate it but aftr 10 minutes got bored.

Of the stars listed as larger than VY Canis Majoris, only WOH G64 is outside of the Milky Way.

I have updated the list by marking the info I was able to find in-game. Found out half of them are in the game but haven't check every catalog yet. not bad. Let me know if you have anymore info. I will update the list and may go below 1000x sol eventually.

woot, there could be candidates to be bigger than canis majoris (in game i mean) that has been assumed to be the biggest. I have faint memories of posts with people telling RW Cephei wasn't reacheble with the longest possible jump range but don't quote me.

I've got this two:

YV CANIS MAJORIS
Canis Majoris.jpg

and BETELGEUSE that you won't like, I'm sorry.
Betelgeuse.jpg

Just to say something, we are super-unsure even in real life how they are, your list shouldn't be taken from granted too, and Betelgeuse is quite BIG anyway.
Also rigel has inconsitencies with wikipedia on mass, to the point it's not even the landing point of its system. But it was an amazing experience nevertheless, landing on a B class and looking at rigel beeing as big but 11000 Ls away.

Somebody already made the list, identified them in game and visited them all. Read that thread like two months ago in the DAngerous Discussion.

Allegedly, none was accurately represented.

Thanks and the Betel is still impressively big. Added info

A lot of stuff gets numerous posts. Will see that I keep this up and well documented.

disappointing :(

Thanks, I added the info. Yeah what it should be and what we got is quite a difference, but don't be sad.

It's certainly not as big as a lot here but it's one of the bigger/biggest F Class super-giants Gamma Cygni is in the game (Under "Sadr") wiki says 150 +-80 R game says 225.5 R so within spec.

The list looks nice but I would suggest to add a column with the radii from Wikipedia....so we can see the difference with the ingame version...and quite frankly, could even help the FDEV when updating the data for those systems...

Yes that' a good idea. I will definitely refine the sheet.
