You Know You're A Real Explorer When...

Gamma, every time.

There's just too much Borg space in Delta, everyone knows that!

:D

Although I am personally a Beta man, myself.

[Sorry, this was a reply to post #15. It's late, I'm tired, and I didn't realise this thread was so long!]

bah... "Laptop on your desk"... too little too late

Dualscreen rig with elite on one screen, firefox with eddb.io on the other, elite:shipyard on firefox on the laptop, this forum on the tablet, and the ISS/SAT tracker on the phone so you don't miss that -3.6 iridium flare...

I don't know if this is an explorer specific thing, or a CMDR in general thing but it just happened to me:

If you know why the sun in your face and XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX in your comm chat bar is terrifying...

(X is my throttle to zero binding)

You feel lightly violated when you discover somebody else scanned a system before you...

I'm not sure "violated" is the right term. I'd have said "concerned" or "vexed" or something along thoses lines. But that happened to me when I discovered a system where only the LAST planet was scanned and I got first discovery for the 5 other objects. And it was an Icy one ! What the hell, mate !

...you're happy that 1.3 got delayed because it means you don't have to turn around for another week.

My question is, if you're a real explorer... Why would you turn around ? ;)

You hold your poo till u scoop

*'till U're done scooping. :p

When there are a ship outfitting discussion you immediately assume they are explorers and point out that they need a better fuelscoop, probably should think about taking away the weapons and that they missed the ADS and Detailed Surface Scanner - only to realize that they are not explorers at all.

I know! That's a good point and something I also considered. I don't care about the powers or whatever is playing. There are two things though: the Diamondback and the Courier. The Diamondback has explorer in its description soooooo yep, I must have it. And there is soooo much glass in the Courier.

(Back in the real world a friend of mine just started playing and all I could say was "I'll be back in a week...or two...or probably more than that. We'll wing up and explode things together some day. Yes. We will play this game together. I'm sorry.")

Also, you know when you're a real explorer when your friend just starts playing the game and complains about the flight from LHS 3447 to Lave and you literally laugh like a maniac and tell him to find you on the galaxy map.

You are walking into town (planning your next voyage out into the unknown) when a car horn make you jump, thinking "I hadn't triggered the bloody scanner!".
You are walking into town again (planning your following voyage out into the unknown) when an emergency vehicles goes past with its Blues and Twos going, and you think "Shiny! I wonder what it does, and where I can get one?".

You know you're a real explorer when Manual Entry Statistics

I've only just started but many graphs and charts will be had in the future (I have another for stars as well)

You hit the edge of the galaxy, sadly turn for home, and then wonder if FD have developed the Inter-Galactic Hyper-drive yet.

I KNOW, RIGHT ? There are those two HUGE clouds (I assume, given the distances) when you zoom out to maximum in the galaxy map, just "south" of Beta Quadrant and when I found out they weren't explorable Nebulaes I almost shed a single tear.

You know you're a real explorer when you only come back to civilized space to buy a new exploring vessel :D
Dat Courrier tho, I MUST have it. Not sure about the Diamondback, I like it's style but I want to seemore of it. (parallel discussion, I'd love the Fed Dropship to have stats overhaul and maybe, just maybe, make it the federal recon/exploration ship ? I know, I'm dreaming, but still...)
