Dropship is terrible, though. Nobody other than novelty seekers will buy your ship, they will just save 1-2 more millions and buy an asp. Ship needs a reason to exist at a particular price point.
I always thought the Asp would have been better having a size 4 or another size 5 compartment, instead of the many number of smaller ones. For the mining role, fitting large shields, and a large fuel scoop and other larger modules was restricted by the lack of a size 4 or another 5. If the Diamondback, had limited number but larger ones, and wanted to fill the mini Asp explorer role, you could not be an effective explorer, due to lack of smaller compartments, limiting you ability to carry exploration equipment. You need up to 3 compartments to explore before you even think about shields. Two spots for scanners, one for scoop, and then repair units on top of that. The Asp gets all the smaller compartments it needs to be an explorer. Without the size 4's it is not the ideal mining vessel. You use up the large points with shields and scoop and have no space for the larger refinery modules.
The diamond back, could be putting large shields and have 3, size 6 or 5 spots left for refineries, but have no space for scanners, so placing it in a little role for itself. It would not be a good explorer, but an average trader and a good miner.
