CH Pro Throttle and . . . ?

I'm using my CH Thrustmaster Pro with my trusty Logitech 3D Extreme Pro!

It's a great combo! Two fire buttons, 4 axiluary buttons on the stick, and a hat switch. As if I need another one, with all the throttle's switches!

I do need it though, I have it set to a lot of targeting stuff. I manage almost everything else on my ship with my thrustmaster.

Here's an oddity: when defining controls, I can't seem to get the system to correctly distinguish between the POV stick on
my CH Pro Throttle and the POV control on my T16000M. I've not yet installed the CH sw though, so would installing the
CH Control Manager fix this?

Still getting to grips with what the Pro Throttle can do, I can see my control mappings changing several times. Found
interesting pages such as this:

But do the controls work? For me it was the same, in the control settings it seemed that the names where identical and thus it would not work, but it worked just fine!

The bindings will only show the axis or button but not specify from which device they are. e.g. you can have several x-axis but they are from different devices. The config screen won't tell you that though.

Do you have any links or pics for how you did this?

It's driving me nuts too!

I just removed the base and desoldered the red wire next to the L/R handedness switch.
Didn't cut the wire in case I ever wanted to reattach it. Put a bit of tape round the wire
end to ensure it can't short anything.

Well, yes & no. They do, but also sometimes it seems like defining one control can cancel another based
on the other device, as if it thinks both devices are the same entity.

Hmm, that's something they could do better, otherwise it can get confusing working out which
control is for which device. Be nice if one could rename any automatic device handle aswell.

I need to have a closer look at this I guess.

In general though, is it worth installing the CH sw package? Or do you reckon it's really not needed?

Ian.

PS. Off-topic I know, but I found this very handy site last night: http://www.edshipyard.com/
Perfect for experimenting with how changes will affect ship parameters, costs, etc. Now I know
the Cobra I'd like to have will cost 10M with a 500K buyback. :|

Summary: What's the perfect twist-yaw joystick partner for the CH Pro Throttle?

I have to say that I would have paired it with a CH Fighterstick, and CH Pro pedals.. and just got used to the whole pedals thing.. The software will manage them all together- more or less as a single device for the client, and cause fewer config problems.

(I have an X55, and it's fine other than the creaky yaw- tempted to get some pedals)

However, great call on the T1600M, it's a perfectly serviceable stick :)

I put a steep s-curve on mine, and I utterly love the little thumb stick. Can't imagine going back now.

This. And no deadzone at all. Perfectly smooth thruster maneuvering. After getting used to the pedals I don't miss the twist on the stick anymore. Roll/pitch is much more precise without a third axis and yaw is so rarely needed anyway, just for finetuning course. The full CH setup was my best choice. Even that center bump on the Fighterstick, which I thought I'd hate, poses no problem ingame. If I were to pick a twist stick to go with the CH throttle, it would be the Mamba or the Cobra Defender. For pedals the absolutely best option would have been MFG Crosswind, but that costs a lot. Although I'm currently considering to buy them and the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS anyway, simply because I could hardmount those to my upcoming Obutto Cockpit. I will see how it goes with the CH parts first though.

Hi guys.
I just got my CH Throttle pro to complement my Logitech Extreme 3D pro...
but i have a problem with it...

I have downloaded CH control manager v4.55 and calibrated the throttle... but in the game, I cannot set thrust to 0. Even with throttle stick all the way down I have 14-15 thrust...
I tried setting throttle from forward only to full control - but even there and with deadzone configured, I can get +5forward, or -4 backwards at best...
How to solve this? Any ideas?

Try recalibration the throttle using the CH manager. Both my throttle and stick drift (especially pitch) and I need to recalibrate regularly.

If that doesn't work you can use a CMS script to put in a larger dead zone at the top end of the throttle range (the throttle actually goes from 0 fully forward to 256 fully back when scripting it). Or you can set up a button that disables the throttle and sets it to zero. I've got this on my map (see link in sig) in case I had drift in game. With both these options you're basically having to hack round something wrong with the hardware though :(

Hey thanks for answering.
I did get another answer on reddit, and applying it did the trick... here is the link in case anyone else has the same problem: http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/36aggy/ch_throttle_pro_problem_getting_to_full_stop/

cheers,
