I'm heading home

Got my target of 2000 (total) systems visited. No idea what it was before I set off but hey, it was a target.

23,005LY from Sol and I've set my sights on getting back and selling the data. Wish me luck all, I'm at 93% everything and no way of repairing :)

Just pick the nearest station to sell your data, unless you want it faction specific, in which case find the nearest of your faction. Good luck, and I hope you remember how to dock....lol

Fair solar winds, CMDR :)

That said, you now stand to run the Gauntlet of the Shinies. Many, if not all intrepid explorers have stumbled and fallen heavily when infected by a bout of shiniitis, so much so that a routine return trip home morphs into an epic journey worthy of 2 biographies........:D

Yeah tell me about it. I left Sag A* on 5th May, and thought I would head home. Over 2 weeks later and I am still 24Kly from home having deviated, gone round in circles, and generally enjoyed myself. Just over 1000 systems to get there and now an additional 500 and only done 10% of the return journey. Might as well achieve Elite with this journey, probably have to do another 1200 systems for that.

Thanks all :)

I'm aware of the "Ooh, shiny!" problem and I have it covered. I won't be tempted, at all. Nope. Not Ever.

I'll still be out here when 1.4 hits won't I?

me, 2k systems explored, please tell us how much that data was worth in the end, ok?

TL;DR 2k is about 60m. Only another 90m to go for Elite :)

It varies, largely based on how much you scan and what you scan (see the various useful guides as to the relative values of different bodies), but I think a good rule of thumb is about 30k per system on average. If you only scan very few bodies and don't actively seek out high value targets (black holes, neutron stars, etc.) then you'll be lower than that, if you "grind" out high value targets you'll probably get higher than that.

I have to admit I am hoping for a bit more than that. I'd like to be able to afford a type 9 and kit out decently. Then I'm going to trade my way to an Anaconda so I can get out exploring again.

I have been neutron farming and have hit multiple black hole systems (with a good smattering of terraformable / earth like / water world etc) so the per system may a little higher for me.

Plus I'll be hitting about 750 - 850 systems on the way home, so they'll be added to the pile.

have a look at our trip database to get an idea of how much(roughly)

Seen that but I've not kept an accurate record of where I've been :)

I kind of did a dogleg approach via a black hole / NS cluster to SagA* so it would've been something like a 30-32KLY trip out.

Meh, I'll wait 'til I get back and see :)

As long as I can afford a good trading vessel so I can grind the creds to get back out again I'll be happy :)

Congrats of the exploration and good luck on the return journey.

I am slowly heading back, 20.2k l/y out still and slowly traveling through the neutron star field on my way back.

I am aiming to continue the slow crawl until the Beta Starts, then once the new patch is out make quick jumps back to cash out and try the 1.3 content on the live server. I have a feeling that exploration data may be worth a little bit more after the patch (more balancing etc). What do you guys think ??

If they increase rewards, they will scale up rankings to reflect it (like ELITE status going from 80M to 160M for all trips after 1.1)

From the info you've provided I will guess 75-125 Million :D

I am continually impressed by the perseverance and endurance displayed by the long distance runners on this forum. It's a special form of madness reserved for geniuses, insomniacs, and obsessive-compulsives.

Traveller_GG - your approach to exploring is not mine :( If credits are what you are after then maybe trading would be a better option :(

Having said that - exploring is all things to all men - so good luck in all your goals and a huge pat on the back for just being out there.

Respect for being out in the void :)

I am on my way back...sort of, I want to do 3301 systems so may have to put in an additional leg. Currently 2006 systems 20K from home.
