I'd suggest turning some phrases or points into a drinking game, but I'm not sure my liver would make it to the end of the thread. lol

Okay, so since PowerPlay is just around the corner, what Is essentially going to stop a really dedicated and really coordinate large mass of players from just going into private or solo and completely messing with the influence of a system? These are just basic examples, again, its not a problem of choice, its just a question on a development point of view of it. It seems more or less conflicting.
Okay, so let's use Mobius for example, let's say they all decided to be say, Imperial. I don't see any group as massive as them that could potentially stop that.
They use private and solo, so while an observer or their opposition might see influence influxes, there isn't a way to say shoot them if they were doing missions (Which as you know when they fail it, harms the faction they failed it for).
You don't stop them by shooting them, you stop them by aiding rival factions.
Last I heard Mobius had over 8k members. So yes, if they support a faction that faction will probably rise. But isn't that logical? If a faction has such overwhelming support, whatever mode they play, won't it start to dominate anyway?
I actually liked Ideas Man - he had some fun things to say.
I like Wheaton's Law.
I have absolutely no problem with the Xbox Crew doing their own thing, and again, this comes back to the exact same argument for them. Which would be more apparent for them.
What works on a console, doesn't necessarily work on a PC and vise versa.
This entire thread is literally going in a circle.

Though, as we are mixed factions, I highly doubt you'd get us all to support a single faction.
I don't think Mobius is 'that' kind of group. Mobius' group is players who don't want to do the pew pew. Aside from that their game politics are many and varied.
Me too, not seen him in ages, we had some fun chats when he wasn't too busy changing his mind every 30 seconds.
And as I said I did like his sig, well then it was Tex's, then they shared it, but it made me smile.
So far they all seem OK, lets see how it goes, if I start reading about "tears" I will change my mind I am sure.
I like Wheaton's Law.
Looking at the Dev Diaries from way back and reflecting on now, solo players (Lone Wolves) should have it a little tougher than coordinated and clever groups overall. I don't see a problem with private groups or solo, just some bits and pieces here and there where its just desensitizes the value of Open Play, but that is a tiny problem. Sure the Background Simulator is a bit silly with how it's handle that now, but I'm sure PowerPlay and time will make things work and fun for all. I don't think reducing the profits generated by a solo player is necessarily fair, rather, making it harder to kill ships alone would be a better solution. But this is just one tiny example of what Frontier Developments is currently facing. They have unique problems and I'm more than confident they'll make something that suites the game respective and compromises so we all benefit.
Dont forget many ppl want to be at open but they forced to be on group/solo modes thats the problem open have ...solve that and will be good and more fun the open mode ...![]()
The Relationship Piracy and Bounty Hunters had was a bit destroyed when we had a patch come in. Community goals providing incentives like money isn't the way to go about bringing players to Open. I remember seeing a CMDR who was in a trading ship that managed to help I think the BD+03 2338 CG and evaded the blockade and got mentioned on the GalNet. Things like that, praise for your bravery and potentially cosmetics for decals (We really need more diversity in those) would be a good way to start looking at it.
Since technically we are tiny and need somewhere to start our story, the concept of risk and reward is something that should well in fact flourish.
I think fundamentally speaking looking at it from a Development Point Of View, they would simply have to make it just tougher to do things by yourself. Reinforce the value of wings, make the values of teaming up, joining a crew, anything involving social aspects to be great. HOWEVER, it cannot exclude the Solo aspect to it. Its important to not to Alienate anyone.
and avoid to answer to the point turning to buff the open ....typical
