Anyone other than me planning to clear save when 1.3 arrives?

Argh. Totally didn't notice one already existing, sorry :)

So.. anyway. Yes. Anyone got any ideas how to lower military ranking with the main factions, fast?

Hmm .. tough one :)

I know that if you just go round blowing them up that just hurts your faction reputation and will stop (AFAIK) any further progress until you get it back, so I think the only way is to wipe.

Tough decision .... I am used to it though (self IM) - commander #11 .. when 1.3 launches it will be something like commander #23 :D

ETA: FD might build into the options a way to clear your rankings like they do with your save - depends on technicalities of course. They may even find a way to migrate over but not sure sorry.

I will wait and see what 1.3 has to offer, if it is a serious change for lower ranking gameplay I may just reset. My gameplay model is not to get the biggest ship in the game but to enjoy the adventure, and if 1.3 adds a lot of adventure why not reset.

I just read the change log, and yes I'm on board with this.
The majority of the credits I made was grinding in a RES, and, honestly, that feels like exploiting.
Not to mention Rank progression seems to have bugged out for me.

I'm thinking of starting as a miner or prospector/salvager/smuggler.

If I clear my save, do I get to keep all my pretty pretty skins for my ships?

I really like my paint jobs...

Edit: And, what happens to all the systems I got First Discovered By?

Making alts in games that have linear progression has always confused me. I understand enjoying the start of the game though

But if I wanted to do that I'd probably just buy the most expensive ship I can, fit it until I'm outta money, then get a Sidey to start in. Work my way up from there. if I ever change my mind, then I don't need to grind 100 hours again just to get a fancy ship.

I did this when I had 2 Anacondas setup for trade and combat, an A vulture, ASP, Python, Clipper, and FDL, and still had 200+ million in credits. Moved them all to my current location, setup a Sidey A rated, and started over. No need to clear my save, sounds odd to me. Just start over, keep track of your current assets, and do not dip below. You can always go back.

Wipe my save? Nah. Im not even Elite yet.
If would wanna try like start over again, Then would buy stock sidewinder at LHS 3447, and park my all ships somewhere far, then pretend that im unlucky Cmdr who lost 1 billon Anaconda, one day before 1.3 relase due of not enough insurance....

Hey, if here someone with plenty of credits (lets say 300kk) please give them to me. I'am a huge fan on big ships (Star Destroyers pew-pew and new dreadnought from Star Citizen). Cargo drones will be very usefull.
I don't have much time for game, currently iam in new default asp and bored from rares trading. So, any help would be much appreciated. And long live President :( Some shady busines in corps headquorters >_<

I am willing to do the same.
Hopefully we get a richer low-level gameplay (sort of) what I expected at launch.

I'm worth over a half billion... so.. .no. I'm going to keep my save. BUT.. I do see the value in doing the wipe and starting over. It can be fun in it's own way. But if I weigh the work I have already put into my current commander against the potential "different fun" I would get from a wipe... I come out ahead keeping my current CMDR.

Props to you though... since there is no destination in this game, you can still have just as much fun in this game starting over as I can flying around in my giant slug of an anaconda.

Only reason to start over with another character is probably a "power choice". Otherwise not quite sure why one would do that, but people do rerolls in other games too. I don´t see it particularily useful in Elite since the difficulty of the game is (at least currently) very minimal. It takes few hours to get into a mid range ship and then it is smooth sailing barring some personal ***up like driving your Python to station wall without insurance money.

Just shoot that faction's allies and/or authority ships.

Why do you need to do that anyway?
