Oh. Ok. Thanks game.

My game froze dropping out of witchspace, and unfroze sitting on top of a star with all of my modules failing. RIP.

Guess I can try again, and not make so many silly mistakes in the first 2kly?

No way! Damn, that's terrible. I must admit I get freezing coming out of witchspace quite a lot on my work laptop and habitually sit there mashing the X key (throttle to zero) whenever it happens.

It hurt my soul a little, but this run has been nothing but smooth sailing, halfway there :)

By smooth sailing, I mean my canopy is cracked, and my modules are all 40-70%, but at least I havent exploded, right?

I call bullsh.it on that.

20K LY in 5.5 hours means 3636 LY per hour.

3636 LY per hour means 60LY per minute

Cobra has an average range of 25LY. 60LY needs at least 3 jumps to achieve. NO ships I know has ever managed to do 3 jumps in 1 minute. Most times it's 1 jump per minute (full jump cycle from 4...3...2...1 to the next one).

And that is not even taking into account refuel time. Max fuel scooping speed is the A4 scoop which allows 343kg/sec refuel time. It alone takes 15 to 25 seconds to refuel a nearly-empty 16T tank.

I second that ... twaddle of the highest order.

Typical, hoping for a quiet Sunday of "jump, jump, jump, jump, scoop" and so on when the missus says we have to go shopping, this'll put me back a bit.

P.S. I hope we don't pass a shoe shop, she'll be there for hours :(

Shop fast, shop safe CMDR ;)

Actually one of my biggest problems (which I did many times) was to sit there happily scooping away on an unscoopable star.

Oh man, I've caught myself doing that a couple times. It just gets automatic, especially on the stars that look like scoopables but aren't. Not sure what the names of all the stars are.

My biggest problem was a couple of times I went trhough the motions of scooping and only when I started my next jump did I realize, "Oh, crap, I didn't get any fuel!" and had to cancel jump and verify that my next one was scoopable!

You can get a bit robotic with the routine, and that can be very dangerous!

Oh boy, 10kly off Sadge, my map is starting to chug. This is the final challenge.

There's one more to come I'm afraid. Once you've found a "magic" distance that seems to route plot OK in the core, that'll get you within a few hundred ly of Sadge but then, really frustratingly, you'll hit another problem plotting those last few jumps. So near but so far! Plough on commander :)

I had thought that passing CMDR Mangel at around 400 light years was a close miss. Then this happens:

Yes, that is CMDR Alot's Frame Shift Wake. We missed each other by seconds.

The Galaxy's Fastest Orca passes the baton to the hopefully soon-to-be Fastest Ship in the Galaxy. Best of luck out there!

Finally hit sub-10kly to Sadge. It's so close, I can almost taste it.

Hang in there, canopy!

I can see the sun coming up outside.

Yes, I've had exactly this especially during the final stretch through the core. You get into a nice routine and sometimes don't notice that that orange star was a T-Tauri.
