Are we waiting for a big update to the game to drop ...... or not?

Guys just as a minor side note (and an attempt to keep this information thread alive and not descend into anarchy)
Wings came out at 3pm on a Tuesday so I see no reason why the update cannot appear randomly.

However, It is 100% not coming out within the next 30 minutes because they always do a 30min in-game warning before updates.

Edit: Agrar: I was wrong, its minor fixes and updates that are Thursdays 7am usually.

Then again, I'm pretty sure that the forums will be flooded with "new ships are rubbish", "AI is impossibly hard", "can't defend myself in another power's territory" kind of threads. The constructive feedback will be hard to spot.

That is inevitable regardless of the state of the patch.

Whining - just for the sake of it - is a pastime.

I was reading that Galnet story this morning and wondering whether it meant the update was coming today at some point.

Heard this in my daughters voice inside my head. I could send her to Cambridge to stand outside FD's offices at about an hours notice?

I am there at the moment, Cambridge that is, not FD, I could do it for you, but I am not wearing womens clothing. Already been arrested for that.

I don't know, but my gameplay last night consisted of buying space taxi, goto Maridal & grab Asp, deconstruct explore Asp, refit for trade. Take Asp to 78 ursae-whatever, buy 6A shield. Do one mission for Alioth Alliance, get Alioth permit.
Take Asp to Alioth, and trade in for cheap Asp.
Go back to Maridal.
Between buying throwaway space-taxis to get to your assets, and the clunky modules screen, and racing against the clock to against a new 10% module loss, this cannot be what FD envisioned when they were developing the game, can it?
Basically shuffling cards, but not actually dealing them?
I still love piloting, but the maintenance of my tiny fleet, I don't know how players with a large fleet do it.

They get to spend two days getting ready...

Yeah, but if 1.3 was released in the current state, I'd expect a few threadnaughts to appear :D

He has a point to be honest, If beta is released in any state it will annoy some people.

I have seriously contemplated starting a thread called "The whining thread" and asking if it can be sticked. Give everyone a place to whine about everything from Powerplay to ships to insurance with the expressed purpose that no one can argue or quote people.
Allow anyone and everyone to have a rant, get it out of their system and then talk properly and be reasonable on the other threads :p
I know that is wishful thinking and would never happen but the sentiment is good...

Sounds like it could be a fun thread to read! ^^'

To be honest, if they release or don't release, I really don't mind. I can handle ignoring or joining in forum debate on the subject. If I had to choose, I'd say release, as FD have proven they have quick response time with hot patches and what not if something big is broken once it's up. I know that PP has its critics (me included), but frankly the concept is not going to be changed in any feasible 5-7 day update development extension.

What I don't like is the lack of information.

This is like being stuck at Stansted, at the mercy of Ryanair providing any info on whether your delayed flight is going to leave or not. Less than enjoyable.

Yeah. slightly off topic but +1 for the metaphor, I know what that feels like.. Let us check the number of hand luggage bags you have, oh, were changing aircraft, lets check the number of hand luggage bags you have again.

From what I've read, the core concept of PP is not the problem, the problem is the reward system that force players to compete against their own allies. You can't feel like you're part of a team if you're constantly competing. This also means that casual players, that can't play more than a few hours per week because jobs yadda yadda will have no chance to compete for the rewards against the hardcore grinders that can put several hours per day in the game.

This won't be released today .... sounds like another beta update is incoming .... plus there seems to be still a lot of issues with beta5
