Best Elite Story Ever

So there I was, hauling cargo in my Hauler trying to make enough money to buy me an Anaconda when I realized it would take me a long time to get that ship. That's not fair. Why should I have to put in 100s of hours when the game programmers can just put in a "fairness" modifier into Elite Dangerous? People who can spend 100s of hours get the Anaconda, and people who don't want to spend 100s of hours can also get an Anaconda. That's only fair.

So I took out my frustrations at the unfairness of it all and went ramming newbs in Sidewinders at LHS 3447.

Then I misjudged the angle of approach and smacked into the station and blew up. I had no insurance and have now lost everything.

That's not fair.

I put in a ticket 5 minutes ago but Frontier still haven't got back to me offering me a new ship and 1 million credits as an act of goodwill.

I'm this close to ragequiting.

Unfair (whine....)

Unfair?

LOL

All you need to do is hop in your sidewinder and go to PYRUIA THAA EG-Y E0....there's a new Anaconda waiting for you there. Leave the sidewinder, get the free Anaconda and profit!

Cannot believe you did not know about this.....EVERYBODY knows about it lol. It's a free Anaconda!!!

I have seriously contemplated starting a thread called "The whining thread" and asking if it can be sticked. Give everyone a place to whine about everything from Powerplay to ships to insurance with the expressed purpose that no one can argue or quote people.
Allow anyone and everyone to have a rant, get it out of their system and then talk properly and be reasonable on the other threads :p
I know that is wishful thinking and would never happen but the sentiment is good...

Maybe we should make this (yes I got the sarcasm but for realsies) :D

My scanners, they can't handle any more...

Great job of summarizing the classic forum complaints of new guys who fly without insurance and who loose everything and complain trying to get it back when it is their own fault.

While the origianl post was done in sarcasm ( and it made me smile ), I think we need to think about the people who make real posts like this. Is it their fault ? Obviously they were stupid enough to fly without insurance, but we've all had to do that once or twice. And we all want a stable of fully kitted out ships. No-one likes starting over.
.
I think it has more to do with the game itself. As in real life, there are consequences to your actions. People who don't have their homes insured and get hit by 'X' disaster, well, they lost their home. Fair ? No. But thats the way it is. At birth, are you given a walk thru for your life, with guarantees that when you accomplish some arbitrary goal, you'll be given a reward ? No. If you're foolish with your money, can you complain about it and have it returned to your bank account ? No. Do I have to interact with totally self absorbed A-holes every once in a while ? <sigh> Yes, sadly, I do.
.
It may be the REALISM of ED that drives people to rage quit. In most games, you can reload your latest save, or restart the level, and it's all no big deal. If it takes you 100 tries to make it past that level/check point, well, thats what it takes you. You still get your full load of ammo/buffs/gear every time. Failing in that, you can reset the skill level to EASY and glide thru. I'd posit that most of these people want a quick 40 hour play thru, with maximized ships at predetermined points, and a big bad boss ship at the end that they can shoot up with the Anaconda they were given three BBS missions ago.
.
ED has none of that. There is no 'plan'. There is no 'path'. There is no 'story'. There is no end-game in life. Unfair things happen. Some people are jerks. Success takes work.

Sheesh. Anyone see this guy? I swear he was the OP. ;)

The only way to make this an even bestier best story ever is if you made it abundantly clear that you should be able to play the game how you want and FD should make it so casual players are always on par with dedicated players, and that you're still waiting for your single player offline mode because nothing spells fun like playing an open ended game with no storyline by yourself.

I agree with the OP. Things are hard, and I hate them ,because they suck. It would take FD like, 30 minutes TOPS to make the game I want, why not give it a try, at least? If everyone doesn't like the outcome, np, I'll come up with a new plan and let FD recode the game real quick to institute my changes. How is this not a thing?

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the secret "$8 million easy fetch missions" at Hutton Orbital? I think this knowledge could help people who identify with the OP's points, no need to hide it for ourselves anymore.
