Was he as Dangerous as he wanted you to believe? Or just more canon fodder?

I have a video :)
Barely shot at me, really tough shields though. Took a while to get through them, and was fairly slippery.
The new AI is much improved.

I think I would have a really hard time taking on 2 improved AI vultures in the courier, also been seeing many many elite ships in supercruise in the beta 7 build.

*edit, took 4 mins. I've killed elite anacondas quicker in 1.2

My last chance to take a peak at the Beta before leaving the country for a weeks holiday! :)

- Players without at least a rank 2 in any of the elite ranks are not allowed to pledge
Out of interest, why is this a good move? I haven't really been testing the actual Powerplay functions so I don't know too much about it yet, but players who are new to the game should be prevented from playing Powerplay then?

Because then newbie pilots don't innocently click on "Pledge" on the Imperial Pinup Princess screen, thinking it's an episode of Keeping Up With The Duvals, and suddenly get shot to <redacted> by Federation POLICE.

That's not really how I see it...it's more like ships/commanders that are to "small" aren't worth attacking in the first place. If you are presented with a choice of pirating a Lakon Type 9 (with lots of goodies) or a small Sidewinder (with crap most likely), which would you choose? ;)

That would totally depend on the personality traits of the pirates/s.

FD seem to have decided they are all ethically correct, which is a shame.

its just another little thing to make the game easier.

That's fair, but there are other ways of making it clear what the pledge button means instead of stopping newbies from doing it. After all, why should we assume that someone who's traded up a rank would have figured it out?

I'm more inclined to believe that this is an exploit avoidance fix.

...or it might be designed to prevent new players being whacked too hard too early as a result of introducing the stronger AI for NPCs.

- Reduce chance of pirates/bounty hunters interdicting the player in anarchy systems when the player is low ranked

Are you serious?

Pirates are not going for easy targets in Anarchy systems?

Erm Elite Dangerous

Roll that change back ;)

Thanks for the fixes!

But is is to stop Bounty Hunters committing assault and murder in order to claim a 200 CR bounty, which surely makes sense on a purely economic sense.
A player wouldn't shoot a clean target to claim a 200 cr bounty in another system if it caused a hold heap of legal troubles in the system they are in

You don't get fines for assault and murder in Anarchy systems.
(Unless they changed something while I wasn't looking?)

or having a whole pile of hostile players who are in a different power.
People complaining about getting killed "for no reason" all over the forums.
Now there is a reason :)

I'm going to ask the painfully obvious question just to check it's not been forgotten: courier getting decal slots?

either way its a good thing ...

I love how the AI is coming along... higher ranks put up a darned good fight now

Exactly my point, Elite was always known for not pulling punches when it came to encounters, you always knew that no matter how powerful you were, that encounter that could bring you to your knees was always just around the corner.

Getting destroyed early in your career was all part of the fun and learning experience.

It really was Dangerous.

Edit - I need to stop banging on about the old Elite, its in the past, a multiplayer game is always going to appeal to the masses and be a little dumbed down, carry on Pirates..as you were.

True, but we also need to remember as you say that because this is a multiplayer game, there are not saves, and you can't simply reload your save when you get killed - there is always a penalty for dying (even if it's not actually that large until you are in a big ship).

WHY oh WHY?

INCREASE it not REDUCE it!

Yep, this is what a lot of people seem to miss. Sure, combat in the previous games could be a lot "harder" (not better), but I also remember basically saving everytime I took out a ship in Frontier. :D
