I've been a mod, and not trolling is a good start, and yes it's frustrating. Why anybody takes it on with a forum like this is beyond me, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I see loads of different races there number two looks a bit middle eastern to me, three from East Asia, seven now he is REALLY white probably representing the Scandinavians, eight is black, nine looks mixed race, not sure there is an issue unless you are trying to find one.
What is more worrying (and someone has probably mentioned this) are you paying Robert Patrick images rights? And WHAT THE HELL is my mother in law doing at number one!?!?!?

Can I just point out that most (if not all) of the people 'creating controversy', trolling, flaming and blowing this out of proportion are those saying the OP should not have posted. Just sayin.. might want to consider that.

I don't find the phenotypic distribution of the different characters to be realistic with current population trends/distribution. Also a lack of creativity, considering how different are the worlds colonized by humanity I would be expecting more differences amongst them.

They are great portraits, the art team has done a sterling job!
I don't really care much about the racial diversity of them, though.
It's their personalities, morals and stances in the game that's more interesting to me.

Gender and skin colour, no, of course not. Scars/hairstyle/fashion choice, ofc yes! (I do want my commander to look fabulous, after all). And technical implants, absolutely. Bout time we got augmentation.
Contrary to so many around these parts, I wouldn't pretend to know what this thread was created for. But considering some mods finally decided to let it run its course, I'm interested in seeing what we could make of it, instead of trying my hardest to force them to close it by making it all degenerate into a flame war.
Real Gamers never saw this racial issue, we are all the same behind a controller/m&kb, there's no race/sex/age.. only "player 1 and player 2".
Only recently people from outside the gaming community started to bring these issues to the scene, they just really enjoy the drama/controversy and most of the time never even stood up from their chairs to fight for something.
I'm really glad to see that most of us here just want to play the game, this kind of drama doesn't belong here.

Achenar is a massive blue star. The place has a torrent of UV, and the Imperials are the masters of bio-tech (and not bio-conservative like the Feds).
I was hoping that Frontier would break some stereotypes and go with what makes sense at the same time. It would make a lot of sense for the Duval line to be dark skinned.
There are great actors out there for inspiration. Idris Elba is the first that comes to my mind, handsome enough to be cast as Heimdall, and perfect in the role. Quite a believable imperial aristocrat I would say.
