Interesting how all the outrage seems to come from people who don't see a problem here. While those who say there might be a slight one, all seem to be rather calm. Funny how that works.![]()
Yep. Very interesting. And not uncommon.

Sorry, I may be digressing and offtopping here, but I think it's an important aspect of art. The misconception of "art must ALWAYS deliver a message" is quite common and it can often distort perception of artwork.
A quick recap on the thread, racism, stereotypes and high res pastries.
It's funny how the people who want this thread closed also seem mostly the people who say the topic is not significant but the thread is on 8 less replies than the launch thread.
Ian can you please close the thread?
… and that's the message.![]()
You read that entire post, and that is all you got out of it.......?
this is quite tedious and unnecessary
Are you saying people made of straw are somehow inferior to flesh and blood people? Look at all the work they do protecting your food crops. I'm ashamed of you.

Funny you should say that. This happened a lot when I was studying English at the Grammar School I attended.
We'd read a book, and the teacher would field a view-point of "Now remember, the curtains in the room are blue. Are they blue for a reason? Does it reflect the author's attempt to convey that the character was depressed?"
My first thought was always, "No. The curtains were blue. Because the author wanted them to be blue curtains."

It's because the people who see no problem are not trying to impose their will on anyone. People insisting that there is something wrong and demanding that something must be changed are simply trying to force their personal agenda onto others. Why can't you just make your own drawings of the characters and post them here? Then everyone can be happy.
A thousand years from now secondary characteristics like eye, skin and hair color will most likely be changeable via cosmetic gene therapy. These are the most powerful people in the galaxy, so I'm pretty sure that they can afford to look the way they want and not necessarily what they were born as. I'd say the only one who probably still has his original secondary characteristics is Archon.
Well said.Ridiculous, political correctness taken too far.
No one bats an eye over the in game illegal arms trading, assassinations, drug running, piracy, slavery etc. The colour of some pixels, sigh...
Looking through a glass onion...What is the message?
Exactly! Although you never know. That's the beauty of it. Only the author knows (unless he's told someone). I've had my art interpreted in many different ways and sometimes it's just completely off my initial intention. It's also very interesting from an artist's point of view to find out how the public sees their art. Some of my poems for example are just flow of words - some abstract, some surreal, some just... Words. They don't really mean much, but they sound nice, they form sentences that cause emotions in people. But I didn't MEAN anything when I was writing them, it was just emotions talking through me.
