Ship integrity in 1.3

Ouch, another credit sink not mentioned by a developer!

I can't blame them for keeping secrets... just look how crazy we got over the 10% restocking fees.

If it is .5% of base cost, that means my Orca will be 230-240K per 1% of hull integrity (assuming my math is correct). In my current configuration, I can only carry 148 tons. I'm not sure I can make that much per run.

i think this is because FDevs wants push us to use cheaper ships... i went in an RES with my viper and made 300K CR in half an hour in 1.3... and i paid around 15k wear and tear...my 2 cents

Python...2% integrity 258,000 credits. 100% hull no shield drop. Happened very quickly.

Oh how I laughed paying this bill.

Can somebody explain what impact integrity has on the ship? I just got back from month-long exploration, and there's plenty of others that have been out there longer, and I'm sure are at 0% integrity. The ship still seems to work fine (as long as we don't face-plant into a neutron or black hole). The "repair all" fixes the hull and module strength to 100%, and that's cheap.

If the ship started frakking up at 20% integrity, or hull-breach at zero and then explode, I think I'd be concerned with it. But so far, other than the regular station repairs, I don't think I've ever clicked specifically on the integrity option and repaired.

Honest question - does it matter?

If the hull integrity repair is 0.5% of ship price per 1% of integrity damage, it will be best to wear the ship to something like 80% of hull integrity and than strip all modules, crash to the sun and pay insurance fee.

My Clipper is down to 80% integrity and the bill is almost 3 million, which I though was a little high!

Clipper Base Price: 22,295,860 cr
0.5% of Base Price: 111,479 cr
20% times 0.5% base price: 2,229,586

Ok. that doesn't quite check out. it's actually higher than expected.

Actually that's not quite true. Ship integrity only breaks down in Supercruise. So you're not actually building up any repair bills while you sit at a resource extraction site. Pick a system with a space station near the extraction site, and just camp there, and you can still make money.

Does make the entire Lakon series pretty useless though. Unless there's somebody out there who bounty-hunts in a T9? Lol

Shame that this is another indirect nerf to weapons that use ammo too. Now you have even more incentive to stay on the site as long as possible in order not to take degradation damage. :)

As usual they did something to make the game worse (more than) this to make it better. Unbelievable.

I just for interdicted (flying a fully equipped diamondback Explorer with large beam and two cannons. The 2 vipers (NPC) were harmless and mostly harmless without shields. I used 4 chaff and 1 SCB and it took as much time as a MASTER Anaconda did before. The AI is MUCH more difficult which isn't terrible, but the worst part was that my total reward for both of them...... 960 credits. Lol.

This is safe to that if I was in my Anaconda I would likely never have seen them in front of me and relied upon my turrets until they were dead. Then, of course, pay my entire net worth in 98% ship integrity.

Every day I get that much closer to hanging this idiotic game.

I know there's been whining. I know I whine. But WHY do they find the need to fix things that weren't broken? Everything was fine with outfitting and repairs and fuel... Why didn't they just add the powers and fix the things that needed fixing like combat loggers and empty instances. It was enough of a grind before and the fact I'm worth 300 million with my Anaconda and still have to double that to fully upgrade it shows that it needn't take any longer. Idiots.

I don't understand why people are trying to argue that it may be intended. Go get a big ship and just fly around a bit. You will rack up over a million credits in repairs just going from say empire space to Alioth Townsend even if it's a 5 jump route in an anaconda.

Hang in there. In the beta section, the testers were complaining about this (fuel and integrity repair). The devs said they'd analyze actual production play, look at the forums, and adjust if needed. I'm sure they'll get adjusted down a bit in the near future.

Hmmm I didn't see that - can you please post links? What I see so far is FDev inserting negative changes - once again - between beta and release. Bad move FDev, bad move...
