Out of Fuel? - Explorer Rescue Service, The Fuel Rats

It's one time use I'm afraid, I believe you transfer 1 ton of fuel with each drone. Again, I recommend that you focus on limpets, and not extra fuel.

Also, relocating the video-documentation of EXERCISE Fuel Rat due to youtube being silly. Please stand by.

Awesome video :)

Important question - does the cargo hatch definitely need to be opened? I have had different answers from people in the Beta and it makes a big difference to if you can be rescued or not. With absolutely no fuel you can't open the hatch...

Well, if you want to test it, I'll strand myself. :)

If someone is stranded, how do you actually find them in their system?
Do they show up as a USS, or would they have to be in supercruise and you would then follow their low energy wake?

That close fly by was flipping awesome

I think a "how to" on the 1st post would be in order, so when someone needs to be rescued or is the valiant bowser they know what to do :)

Hats off to the testers - that was really great to watch, it puts the feel good factor back into gaming and gives me GREAT hope that this game can be a lot more about positive player interaction!! :)

Loved it all - well done commanders :)

Just wait, someone will start using this to PvP unsuspecting rats eventually.
Id recommend keeping the guns warmed up and to have the FSD spinning up before you even consider launching a drone.

So what the thinking behind expiring a perfectly good drone in order to transfer fuel? Is this true for all the drone in the game? It seems ridiculous to me.

I'm going to wait until Anuranium's video is in a solid location and link to it with a list of the sequence of events in a rescue.

Edit: Done. Main page updated.

BTW, all, suggestions for the main page always welcome. Art, fiction, etc, too. I'm not big on heirarchy or formality in spite of just being promoted to Earl of Fotla by his Highess. I am basking really hard right now.

That's part ofthe reason for friending first with the rescuee. Check on the GalMap and make sure they are where they say they are.
We don't want a Rat running a couple kylie to rescue someone who's sitting in a pub in Lave laughing.

As I've said elsewhere, I won't rescue someone in my Asp (unless I'm way out in mid-nowhere and so is the rescuee) I'll go in my Clipper and I'll have a load of missiles and beams ready to go. Never rescue a comedian.

Congratulations on your promotion! This is one of the things I love about games with interaction like this. You've rallied together a group of people behind a commendable cause that will help people regardless of faction etc. In another part of the galaxy and in another role you would be my enemy and, if I enjoyed pvp, I might even be trying to kill you - but the Fuel Rats are about more than that. They're about helping fellow commanders. Good stuff :) I'm now nearly 4k ly from Sol and checking this thread every hour in the hope that someone needs help near me! I wonder if there's some way of making this service more widely known? I have been trying to spread the word a bit to people in game but it would be shame if it languished. Perhaps you could email FDEV and maybe get a mention in the newsletter?

Sincerely,

Post Commander Beornfrið
