Ships Imperial Courier

it's a great ship for 4-7 millions build, past that amount of credit i see no point to keep it when you could have a Vulture (unless you like it of course)

I'm actually thinking of selling my vulture and replacing it with courier :D

Cheaper build, cheaper insurance, more fun, awesome looking ship, what's not to like about it?

Unless you are an npc, of course.

NPC shields recharge at the same rate as player shields, they do not cheat. However, lots of NPCs, even pirates, fly with undersized shields. It's really noticable sometimes when you face a Dropship and wonder why its shields are down so quickly, its shields aren't spectacular but usually not Eagle-weak... but when the shield reinitialization kicks in you realize that the Dropship was probably running with a low grade class 4 shield (the stock Dropship with a 4E shield generator indeed has weaker shields than an A rated Eagle).

Do it. I've got, among other ships, a Python and an FDL both A-rated. Since I got the Courier, I haven't flown anything else. :D

I am definitely in love with this little ship. Put me under a million with enough to cover the insurance and since then I've been having a blast.

So, i have tried a few different loadouts now...

C2 G Beams on the wings + Underslung Rail gun (I sucked at aiming the railgun)
C2 G Beams on the wings + Underslung Plasma accelerator(I sucked at aiming the plasma)
C2 G Beams on the wings + Underslung G Cannon(Felt like the cannon was pointless)

I am now running this build...

http://coriolis.io/#/outfit/imperial_courier/04A3A3A1A3A2A3C2727270004040402583r6b2o00

(TLDR - Full A-fitted internals, class 2 shield with 3x3A boosters, 3A sheild cells and 3x2G multicannons)

Oh dear god i love this ship...

the shields! THE SHIELDS!

The multis let me divert minimal energy to weapons... meaning i can focus on keeping pips in shields ( SERIOUSLY... THE SHIELDS!!!) and maneuvering.

I don't like the canon/multi canon only setup 'cos you'll run out of ammo eventually and need to go back to station to refill.

2x lasers + 1x canon/rail is my preferred setup.

This little bad boy is getting me in trouble.... I'm wanted, because of PP missions, I've taken out Elite Pythons (in a group of 3, but took a lot of damage), done PVP against a Vulture, which I know I could have beaten (but, we had a gentlemen fight, to the end of shields), used my FSI often (to kill pirates, assassination missions, defense forces)....

Overall, I'm very happy with my little fighter..... Although, I have yet to go up against an Anaconda!!!!

This ship is awesome, it only has two problems:

1. The name is "Courier", but should be called "Interceptor". It's very much a combat craft, and the FSD range doesn't justify the name "Courier".
2. The seat is placed quite low and far back in the cockpit, so you can't see much below your nose. Any fixed weapon with projectile speed (e.g. plasma accelerator, cannons) are really hard to aim with that. Moving the seat a little bit would work wonders here.

But despite these drawbacks, the ship by now is very good. (Heat is manageable. During the beta it was glowing, it was fixed several times to get it to the present status. )

A tip regarding the Courier:

Buy it in Achenar - Baker Terminal. It gives around 12% (not 15%... idk why) discount on the courier. Upgrade the FSD and buy a fuel scoop.
Then fly to Lembava - Goldstein Port (High Tech eco). It is the Home System of Li Yong-Rui, the Sirius guy. He gives 15% discount on any outfitting module. Weapons, Internals, everything! Safes you a lot of money. You can full-spec the Courier for ~6.5MCr. ;)

Why does this ship get so hot when scooping?

Beacuse it is freakin hot. ;)

No, you're right. The courier doesn't lead off the heat as good as the other ships. Does make fuel scooping more interesting.

Best bet is to buy the A Power Plant (and the 3A Fuel Scoop) right away.

Do you have to ally with him? Or is the discount for everyone?

The discount is for everyone. It's the main benefit in control systems of Li Yong-Rui (Like Black Markets open/close or higher/lower prices for commodities for the other factions).

The station doesn't have every outfitting though, but they have a good bunch as a high tech system. You could ally with him and help aquire some more high tech systems. ;)

I have been playing with this ship since 1.3 release, sure, is not the best fighter and the Vulture is still way better than the courier in pretty much everything, but the Vulture is just the most BORED ship of ED and i hate it with all my heart, even more because is the best fighter ingame. And then we have the Courier, The ship feels and looks like a starfighter, the Sound!!, The cockpit!!, what a lovely ship to play.

Since Denton Patreus offers at -10% cost on Imperial Ships in his controlled systems, there isn't much of an advantage to going to Achenar specifically, is there? I only ask because I was dumb (and the mission text wasn't clear) and turned down the mission to get the Achenar permit the one time I saw it, and haven't been able to get another shot at it.

Yes, definitely. The design and sound make you think you fly a Lamborghini in spaaaace!
Plus is can jump further than the Vulture and is a lot faster.
This is my build I think atm: http://coriolis.io/outfit/imperial_...3C1b1b2a0404000l2t4053010100?bn=Courier Build
10t cargo space, quite a fast fuel scoop for fast traveling. The shields are practically impenetrable (you can run any time). 14-16ly jump range.

I found out, why it seems to be only around 12% in Achenar. The Ship Hull is -15%, the Ship parts are normal price, which makes around -12% for the whole ship.
Yes, you could also take the -10% from Patreus if you find a system which has the Courier in stock. The price difference between those two should be 124000Cr.
