You misunderstand the game fundamentally, Sentience. Powerplay isn't about the money, it's about the glory of making your favourite character dominate. If all you care about is making your credit score bigger, just keep playing the vanilla game.
Ok so what am I missing here, I thought I could ignore PP and just keep doing my thing is that incorrect ?
It's still one of the best games Iv ever played & I'm playing it how I want to play it, not how everyone thinks I should be playing it!!!
what bonus of getting higher than rank 2 is there anyway?
only a weekly payout increase and some more votes.
once you get to rank 2 you get the benefits anyway.
7 kills makes100 merits and that wouldnt take an hour a week to do.
i only play maybe 3 / 4 hours a week max and im enjoying poweray.
To the people saying "you don't have to play PP"
Here's the thing... we want to play PP. We want to experience what it has to offer.
But as it stands, casual players can't.
Well we can, if we want to stay at a rating of 1, and not experience the rest of it. But here's the thing... it's a new update, new content, and that content is locked out, only to players who can play every day, for hours a day.
OK wise guy. I have asked repeatedly how exactly I as a supporter of Winters earn 15 merits for each and every kill. Deafening silence so far. Really want to know.
Flappers and Sentience have their views. As it happens I broadly agree with them. As it stands PP is truly some Elitist play style that really does not appeal to many. It should not be a case of choose to play or not. That is just bad design. It should irresistibly drag you in. Rewards are thin on the ground and difficult for many to identify with.
FD have got this balance wrong. Very wrong.

You have to go to a systemcontrolled by an oposing faction. Ie. Fed or independant if ur anempire faction.
then interdict fed navy ships if ur in an empire faction.
each ship u kill is 15 merits no matter of size. You will get wanted though but just run from system security ships.
And that requires no mission? I just turn up and start killing? Then fly my snuff videos back to base where my debriefer and I watch them in all their technicolour detail. He then gives me 15 per kill? Fantastic.
Yup no mission nothing. They even interdict u in the system just to give u more merits.

Certainly isn't this way with my Power.
Which one did you join?

Easy and fun fix. The longer you stay in the faction, the smaller your rep decay becomes.

So what you are saying is that there is only 1 way to gain merits at a reasonable rate?
Every other way of gaining merits is pointless?
So once again, we're back to square 1. Casual players (or whatever you want to call us, those that have jobs, family, lives) are forced to undermine in order to gain a reasonable amount of merits?
The balance is just wrong in the game.
The core of PP is great. I love the idea. Really I do... and I want to experience all of it.
But we can't. Not without FD re-balancing those numbers... it's not a fundamental change to the game... it doesn't require a massive new patch. It's literally a few variable changes.
Now I like this idea. This could work (provided that FD don't use the "only when you're logged in" stance which they've been taking lately).
The biggest issue for me, it all reminds me of a free to play mobile game.
But flipped around.
For example, in these mobile games, you are limited to play when you are logged in. And either have to spend real money to play more, or wait an arbitrary amount of time.
But in ED, it's the opposite way around. You are limited to playing, when you are not playing the game. In order to progress in your chosen power, you have to be constantly logged in and playing, otherwise you will decay back to square 1.
This whole power decay is - in my honest opinion - arbitrary, annoying and pointlessly punishing.
I can understand reputation decay, and that's all fine. Because it allows for players who have a negative rep to have a chance at balancing out.
But for power decay? There's no benefit to this. Other than to punish players who have lives.
I'm not saying get rid of it completely (I can understand that they don't want players grinding their way to R5 and getting 50 mill every week) but allow progression for players who can't grind for hours a day, every day, every week.
If you plan on going on vacation for a few weeks... you'll come back and you're back to square one. Does that sound fair?
