Good work, FD :D


Those of us who appreciate how hard what you're doing is will remain patient & grateful.

* I've had about 18 months of dealing with similar (but much worse) FUD in the crypto-coin world. The games may be different, but the don't change. For those who've never been there, can you imagine just HOW much worse it is when it's "real" money involved, not just game creds & 'status'? *

what? i did not have any problems with the rank progression but i was reset from baron to lord again?
i know its only 1 rank but its still annoying.

Reset of the ranks will mean the whole gameplay day is lost, I've lost 6 fairly achieved ranks. And as I was performing the ranking missions on my Python I have taken it to the storage station, which is not hostile, and I had to make 17 jumps to get there, which took quite some time (20-30 minutes). And I'll need to go to that station now, get my Python, make 17 jumps, be hostile, and do everything from scratch. And then I will have to return my Python back.

So this would mean that I am penalized for playing the game according to the plan that I had made for PP release.

It's only reset if your rank suddenly dropped to zero, or shot up for no reason.

Just logged in after patch 1.3.01 and my empire rank is now back at knight and not Marquis ??? also when logging on it shows unknown name on server ip at lower left of main start page, any ideas ?

Never fails to amaze me how often even people familiar with software development confuse fixes with remediation. FD fix the bug that cause the problem and then have to perform remediation for those *already impacted by the bug*

In the case of faction influence, 3 days of working on minor faction politics is no big deal. As we saw in the campaign for Lugh, to make significant progress takes months of dedicated work by a number of players. A bug caused minor faction influence gakaxy-wide to go badly out of whack for 3 days. After patching the bug to stop the odd behavior continuing what's lazy about rolling back the results of that odd behavior? Particularly since it was patched within 3 days which is such a short time when trying to manipulate minor faction influence.

Regarding rank rollbacks, again it's remediation AFTER the bug is patched and limited to those impacted by the bug. If you lost ranks, you'll get them back, if the bug gave you more ranks than you should have received you'll lose them.

Think about it before joining in with the chicken-little chorus. The sky isn't falling.

Again, that's not the case.

I completed a large number of missions between each rank. Most of those missions were donations, but they were missions nevertheless.

I didn't receive any ranks without completing many missions in between, and most of the actual opportunity missions I had to complete two, three, or four times in order for them to stick.

If you paid more attention to the thread, you would understand that the main gripe players have, is that these are issues brought up during BETA.. and were ignored by the development team and still released.

This mean players who do no BETA have had the promise of this awesome update completely fail on them.. some not even being able to log in. We can all Kiss .. but constructive criticism is what most of us have placed on the table, and to bloody right too. We BETA testers were here to make sure the general public had a nearly bug free environment to continue playing. What actually happened is, they fixed what they could in 1 week, and then released anyway. That is not a good business model.

BTW for those interested.. Collector drones are still playing chase with each other. They have not been fixed.

Cool, my post captain rank remains - the marquis rank which came with it and I posted earlier is now removed back to earl

Depends what you understand as 'shot up for no reason'.

I was reset from King to Baron (which I had before the 1.3 Update). I had no 'problem' with ranking up this weekend, it was a bit fast though, but I did the missions they told me to. Is this legit for a reset?
