Yeah this reminds me... on my second run in my Vulture, I do NOT have starfields like the first time, like those in insanephoton's pic or DreadedLurgy's.

I remember having an amazing sky full of stars around the halfway mark - just about the time I'm crossing the second spiral arm (15,000 LY or so in). But on my second run in my Vulture, my sky remained clear .. I have no idea why.

And this was still in 1.2....

I was supposed to get back to populated space today to try out the DB Explorer, see if I want to try another run, but NOPE

Ah well.

I found the starfields inconsistent on the run in. Sometimes the bright band seemed further away and duller despite heading closer to the centre.

Well, sometime in the next 48 hours I will be making my run for time. Hopefully the "space weather" remains favorable and that I am not affected by too many server and ship gremlins. If it gets too bad I will scratch, but look forward to the run in the meantime. If all goes well, I will submit all my screens shots to be validated Also, that "Sag Fault" comment was great. Fly safe CMDRs o7

I seen the unofficial board was updated, but I will just repost my info for posterity.

It is a fascinating thing to look back at a situation from a clearer head.
For me, the Buckyball Run A* was an exercise in problem solving under physical and mental fatigue.
After some time (likely about 8-10 hours, if you're working with a hauler or Adder), you'll run into the Wall of Math - that area where the routing planner goes, "99%..." So the question is asked. What do you do?
I did not do well. I probably lost 1.5 to 2 hours of time because I wasn't thinking clearly. I also didn't post after finishing the run because of another problem, that again I couldn't solve effectively due to mental fatigue - how to post photos from the run in URL format, which is what is asked for with PMs?
So, after a desperately-needed nap, here are my results.

CMDR Hanekura Shizuka, reporting from Sagittarius A*.
Ship name: Shadow Lurk
Ship type: Adder
Travel time: 17 hours, 32 minutes, 50 seconds.

That's a damn good time, especially in an Adder, and I'm not just saying so because you're my friend. Well done!

Congratulations CMDR Hanekura Shizuka, that's an excellent time and some awesome photos. :D

I totally agree about the "Wall of Math," the worst thing is that after beating it the first time, it then confronts you again for the final leg into Sag A*.

Well done Hanekura, a very respectable time in an Adder. What will you do now? Suicide back to civilisation or take the scenic route?

Seeing as I get overwhelmed just heading a couple thousand lightyears into the unknown, I may as well sign up for this.
My Asp is named Tasty ;)

Confused? I am

Spambot maybe? Or did you mean to reply to CMDR Chance-'s post?

I say cobbers, here's a spot of poor form...

I just had Elite Dangerous crash on me, and now I can't log back in. Looks like my CMDRs data has got a bit ... corrupted!

A quick scan of the bug forums reveals that Frontier are on it, but this bug seems to be striking CMDRs who are a long way from home.

Folks, it looks like stars are right and Cthulu has come out to play in witchspace.

Log a support ticket and in it tell Frontier exactly where you were (or the last system you wrote down!). Fixing the problem means moving your ship, but if you give those details they can just move you a short way rather than having to go back to the last place you docked. Happened to me last night, was fixed within half an hour after I finally logged the ticket - moved me back about a thousand LY, but that's better than 13000LY!

Damn, I'd been meaning to post that, "not even the great trans-galactic gravity storm of June 3301 could stop the partying aboard The Spanish Inquisition," but now it has. :(

I hope they can sort your CMDR data out quickly.

We really don't need Great Cthulhu interfering with the Buckyball Run, although it would be great if 'the stars were right.'

Or a confused new forumgoer :p
Yes, I was a little embarressed by my post, so I edited a little at the same time as you were posting.

Heads up, CMDR's!

If you're having the CMDR data error after hyperspace crash don't log in yet! The 1.3.01 parch is resetting players who have this error back to where they last docked! FD has said they will manually move those players back to their last jump location this afternoon, but if you log in before that, you'll lose your progress!

See the patch notes thread (and a later dev post in that thread) for more info.

UPDATE: Dev post indicates that all affected CMDR's should be back in the system of their last jump now, so looks like all clear.

Thanks. That's actually a really good question, because of a couple of things. When Rankaze mentioned during his run that people were suiciding back to civilization, I had this odd mental picture of all these self-destructed ships littered around a supermassive black hole. Reminded me of the problem with Mt. Everest: there's no garbage disposal or even body disposal up there, so the oxygen bottles and bodies and various other detritus piles up.

With Shadow Lurk, I've already had damage to the ship, to the point that I've already had one equipment malfunction. I'm not sure the ship could survive the trip back. So my thought as I was getting closer to Sag A* was that I would suicide back. Problem is, what I found once I made it was that, if a ship is good enough to get you to Sag A*, it should be given the opportunity to get you back. So I'm going to at least try.

It is amazing how attached you get to your ship - I recently lost my exploration T6 and was more gutted that Euphemia was no more than the 40+ million of data that I lost. Enjoy your trip back :)

For most people it should be much safer travelling back as they don't need to rush; I seem to be the exception to this as I've taken more damage plodding around the core than I did racing to Sadge! As a result I'm travelling everywhere at racing speed unless I spot an interesting system.. Lol

Fly safe CMDR! (Or fly dangerous like me)
