Elite Dangerous..........

as said before, it's good you disagree, however, I understand they aren't, maybe I should of changed the bit about no money coming in, I'm sure people are still buying the game, just not many. Also, where did you find out that sales are going well ??? I certainly didn't find any true stats about no sales coming in, as I said I should of changed what I said, a little harsh I guess, but I also fail to see where the stats are that state the game is selling quite well.

thanks for reply though :)

that stats would be on FD's financial year report...u can ask it from them ;)

I just wonder what Frontier has in store for us next :D 1.3 has been a fine addition to the game, and as always the game will be patched and tweaked to set the right balance. Frontier is advertising the game very good with giving us newsletters and updates along the way. Its a game in constant evolution. I feel Elite is getting dangerous again after having been a bit to easy, but hey I always welcome easy "credits", but to a certain level. Now in my Asp I feel I have to work for the credits again especially with bounty hunting/pirating. Big bounties are not so common anymore it seems and taking on a expert/deadly foe is much harder. It might take a little time to get the Fer-De-Lance. But as long as the game is feeling challenging, who cares. Its good to have something to look forward to also. I am now trying to bounty hunt and pirate at the same time in an Anarchy, and I love it. Credits are lower, but I am still waiting for the "mother load". As long as the game is challenging and fun, and it is evolving. I have no problem with it. I still dont understand how people can complain about a game of this magnitude which is still under development. Okai there are bugs, but these will be fixed.

thanks for your reply buddy, apprecaited, however I understand some people are happy for what the game is within the current lack of games in this genre, but it's certanily not just about general bugs, they happen in most games, in fact it's pretty darn hard not to release a game these days with a few bugs here and there, I think as pc gamers we grow to accept this.

your right, this info can be made available to people willing to look at their financial records, maybe I or someone should do this when they have a little more time, I think that would make a fantastic post :)

I've got to go for a while now, but I promise I will be back to reply to people's comments, catch you guys later.

surely you guys could come up with a little more educated criticism than that :(

Come on guys, give me criticism, something more in depth. And I hate family guy, I was more of a South Park fan ;)

Don't worry about them too much.

A lot of what you wrote is actually correct and factual, although you presented in a way that is heavily influenced by your feelings and opinions - but that is what we all do on forums anyway, and what you posted is much better than the first bunch of replies you got.

Personally, I still have hope that Elite will become all that it was promised. But Powerplay isn't really a good step towards that...

Frontier Developments is a public limited company, so its financial reports are in the public domain. Just look under the Investor Relations section of their corporate website if you want to check them.

From their April Trading Statement, it all looks quite rosy for the time being...

I have, you seem to be looking in the wrong place/systems.

Lots of players online, I have them chasing me around various systems when I have to cross into popular areas on my way somewhere.

Seems to me you have not played or explored at all. There is no hand holding in this game, you have to make your own way.

It's a game, if you don't like a game you stop playing it and find a game you do like. Seems like the OP likes Star Citizen. My suggestion would be to go and play that.

Sometimes people get a little frustrated when they are promised an apple but given an orange. :D :p

You have some legitimate points, no doubt.

I agree that the game has been released prematurely, seriously lacking content, and still bug ridden. This was a short sighted money grab, and I fear that it may hurt the game in the long run, as initial players will leave the game feeling frustrated and misled by advertising. I'm a beta backer and nostalgic old time fan boy, and struggle with accepting some of the decisions made by FD.

I also agree that Elite: Dangerous doesn't have a sense of direction. But that, I believe, is an integral part of the game design. For better and for worse.

But apart from this, I think Elite: Dangerous is an amazing game. I can spend hours flying here and there without any real purpose, and I hope that Elite: Dangerous will get there in the end. Wherever that may be. We don't really know, and FD won't share the roadmap... :(

Fly safe

I also agree the game was released prematurely but I suspect they had no choice (for whatever reason).

I'm a bit disappointed with the state of things too, but I'm also aware I'm danger of being one of those game forum people who complain that they've "logged 500 hours of play time and the game has no replay value whatsoever!". I've got my money's worth, and enjoyed nearly all of it.

There are other games to play while we wait for them to fix this one!

Don't take this the wrong way but what I find amusing at times is that, given the size of the galaxy within which the playerbase can spread out, some people actually thought it was ever going to be any different. The playerbase was always going to spread out beyond the starter and core systems. This is not the typical space opera game with a few dozen or hundred or so systems restricting everyone to the same play area. Plus with a 32 player limit in any instance - and even that affected by P2P connectivity quality - this was never going to be the sort of game with masses of players in a given location like we see in other MMOs. Mass PvP battles, for example, aren't what Elite is about. For many of us that is just fine as we prefer the sense of scale to the galaxy that results - we want to feel the vast distances to travel, the feeling of isolation, followed by the novelty of stumbling across the odd player out in the black or relief when we make it back to our more populated core systems. It does make it harder to coordinate the large scale player interaction that some people believe is required from a traditional MMO these days - but that doesn't mean Elite: Dangerous has to provide the same experience as other MMOs. Technically, it's massive, multiplayer and online so it is an MMO in that sense - but a different approach to most MMOs today. In my opinion that's a good thing (a breath of fresh air) but it's still an evolving beast of course so who knows what the future holds.

This is an mmo or is marketed as one.
Since when has an mmo been about player isolation?
If, in open, you see alot of players then you think the game is alive and doing well.
When you don't, you think the game is not doing so well.

In habitited space there is plenty of npc's but no real players. So it's not meant to be a feeling of isolation, followed by novelty of stumbling across a player. That's for when you go out there.
If open had the same player base as solo or mobius or private group then it would be awesome galaxy and it wouldn't prevent anyone else from playing their way, alone or in group.
I fly past players all the time but they are not there, instancing, mobius, solo, all those reasons. That why I can't accept your reasoning.
Look at the confusion surrounding the background sim. PvE players are grinding their heart out to get influence but can't see the other players opposing them and can't understand why it's not going their way.
It's hurting your own PvE players, who are not here to play single player.
So Power play gives some clarity. Now it's hurting the open play in other ways.
Open is dead.
Hardcore open players will move on, maybe 6 mths to a year. That is the 'breath of fresh air' you guys talk about.

I now have to adjust. I have to approach this game as a single player and just understand it is not really an mmo but a retro game beefed up with modern computing power.
The mmo is a massive fail. Roleplay too. How long can I survive roleplay with npc's and fixed objects?

I'm an '84 but I'm no die hard fanboy and I don't think ED should stay in 84 either. It's had 30 years to evolve. When will it evolve?

To be bluntly honest, Elite Dangerous was and still is, plain and simple, a fraud to backers.

well I would agree in regards to the offline mode but the rest is almost like described (if you don´t count in the stuff from the DDF that is missing)

altough people will go REALLY mental if planet landing and boarding is not there by the end of the year -as the original Kickstarter said game out in summer 2014 - twelve months by summer 2015 (which is now) we should already walk around on planets and have fun there

I still want FE2 the complete experience

Okay, I'll give you some honest criticism.

- the Star Wars theme added a lot to your post
- while you have some accurate concerns about problems with ED, you envelope them with stupid comments and childish boasts which detract from the good parts of your post
- the blue text was a bad idea
- solo mode is a good feature not a bad one, allowing people to play how they want to is never a bad thing (and I play in open 99% of the time)
- I look forward to your first game that you make, it sounds like you are an expert game designer!

Does Elite Dangerous have issues? Most Certainly. Could it be a better game? Undoubtedly. Is what we have today still an awesome space simulator the likes of which is unparalleled by anything else out there today? Absolutely. Despite it's problems the game is still fun to play for me and I enjoy it greatly, and I look forward to it's continual improvement for a very long time.

Maybe it's just not your kind of game?

you just want a job there don't you , or you failed to get one and now your so mad you could just crush a grape

This game doesnt follow the rules, its its own game, isnt not a typical mmo, or any other game, its its own game doing its own thing. It doesnt need to have anything you said to make it more like the typical game you like, maybe somethings would be better, some arent important, everybody wants more more more and they are constantly adding that, they could have made this game SP only if they wanted, not every single game ever made needs to have a MMO or online element, most of the best games Ive played this past few years have all been SP orientated. Kerbal, GTA, Skyrim, Cities skylines.. This is a single player game with the ability to play with players online.

I dont get why this warrents a thread I dont make a thread to tell you when I'm going to the toilet or getting my tea, so why do you think we are interested in what you do or dont do in your spare time.

I think the OP makes a number of valid points - the game is weak in certain areas - particularly the instancing and not sure solo compliments power play either :(. Having said that I'm loving the game once again and thoroughly enjoying PP - nothing to do? Serious? There isn't enough time in the day to do all thats on offer. ;)

FDev have really turned things around with Wings and Powerplay. gg devs! :D

To the OP, do you know what other game had a lot of similar posts when it first started? That's now been running for years and years with more content and expansions added over time? That when it first started was totally devoid of a lot of promised features? That released buggy and broken updates and expansions?

EvE online.

Elite has more content than EvE ever did in it's first year, in it's first 6 months. I backed this game on Kickstarter and knew that a lot of what they wanted was never, ever, ever, going to be included in the initial release, let alone see the light of day in the first year. I'm more than happy with that as I realise that this game needs time to develop. Instead of moaning and whining about it just stop playing and come back to it at a later date and give the Devs time to work on adding everything they can. While you may have raised some good points, it was all covered in a certain amount of self entitled wah wah wah.

As for Scam Citizen, well, that'll be a steaming pile of bug ridden, promise braking, compromise upon release that'll have exactly the same type of threads on it's forum as we see on this one. So for all the peeps thinking that it'll be the complete game you are dreaming of, don't get your hopes up too high.

I'm enjoying Elite, I'm enjoying PP, I'm enjoying the environment and I am fairly happy with the direction. Just because some of the things I want to see in game haven't appeared yet hasn't dampened my interest as it's stuff that other people have found they like. Bring on the next update and what interesting things they have in store with that, it might just be what I've been waiting for.
