Powerplay cycle is out a day early

I have a pretty big question... Seeing as we didn't get our merits taken from us this cycle given the day early bug does this mean our merits will be halved tomorrow or were we exempt from merit decay for our first week? If half my merits are being taken tomorrow there's zero point in me working towards ratings until tomorrow otherwise it's a huge waste of Credits and time.

I honestly think at this point, that your guess is as good as theirs.

They didn't even tell us when the cycle was supposed to end, do you seriously expect an answer to that question?

Sounds like it. I'm in a similar boat.

I guess the point is to prevent players storing up tons of uncashed merits to avoid the weekly decay.

So in summary:
1) introduce a PP decay feature which is broadly hated anyway
2) fail to explain the impact of this decay feature on merits which not cashed in (ie you lose them, they are not even halved)
3) screw up the timing of the PP cycle

And that's before we get onto the grindy mechanics of PP in the 1st place.

Also (whilst I'm on a rant I might as well finish) why are merits set up so
a) killing an opposing PP faction ship out of military strike gets you 15 merit but killing a same ship in military strike gets you only a single merit
b) number of merits is independent of ship type (unlike combat bonds)
c) credits reward is so poor, when compared with combat bonds or missions

So are we going to get a statement from FD regarding this or should we just keep playing until the next thing breaks?

Maybe as a sign of good faith and support FOR THIS TIME ONLY our deleted credits could be reinstated?
Maybe?
Go on FD, you know you want to.......................

Yeah, I'd really like some sort of statement about how the fundamentals of Power Play are completely broken after the cycle change for some reason.

One month of beta testing is definitely not possible. Beta testing means that those who test it do not play the main game.

So you're saying FD is incapable of holding a beta lasting longer then 2 weeks for a major content patch?

Ok. Good to know. Won't be playing after any future patch until at least a month or two while all the untested stuff is force tested on the live server.

The real issue is powerplay is broken, the preparation bug ruins it, you can stuff your powerplay to the bin if you dont reverse this.
People are already working on systems that were suppose to go to other powers. A real let down, when people complained about PP how bad it is I said ok guys lets wait for at least one tick to expire, and now I reailize they were right... Its bad enough some factions have majority of players working for them, and now this, entire week of contributions erased by a bug that was reported in beta and also fixed in beta......

IMHO if everyone treats this week and the next couple of weeks as Powerplay discovery learning weeks and not put so much effort in trying to rush to Rank 5 or take over the galaxy :D in the shortest time possible then these issues, which I am sure will continue to happen for a while yet, won't be so frustrating.

I feel it will be a while before the Powerplay bugs are shaken out and we can start to use the mechanics meaningfully to suit ourselves and the Power we belong to.

So, just don't make it a short cycle if you're going to be changing the times of cycles, FD. That would really suck for rollover.

We'll update the server later today to correct some issues that have arisen from the cycle turnover. That will include a reduction in the decay to account for vouchers and goods that weren't delivered.

Cycles will take place on a Thursday morning during the maintenance shutdown to minimise disruption.

Thank you very much for the update Michael. Hopefully we will see all systems belonging to the factions they should belong to.

Logically it should tick over @ 0:00:00 ingame time to match the start of a new day, since your thursday morning is not my thursday morning.

Thanks for the update, best of luck getting it all sorted out. I can imagine the early turnover caused quite the headache - hard to monitor how something's gone when it wasn't meant to happen for another day or so! :D
